Aprilia has given its SR range of scooters a mid-cycle update, and along with that its prices have also increased by a minimum of Rs. 10,000.
Yesterday, Aprilia gave the SR125 and SR160 a crucial midcycle update. This update was long due, for the SR scooters had an outdated look and feature list. But the 2022 SRs are now significantly updated, along with a price hike as well. There are now 4 variants of the SRs: SR125, SR160, SR160 Carbon, and SR160 Race. The New 2022 Aprilia SR125 and Aprilia SR160 price range from Rs. 1.08 lakh to Rs. 1.27 lakh. Bookings had already started at authorized dealerships earlier this month, with a nominal amount of Rs. 5,000. Deliveries are expected to commence by the end of November 2021.
The new bike now gets visibly sharper front aprons. The headlight unit has also been upgraded from the erstwhile halogen unit to a new V-shaped LED headlight unit, along with LED taillights as well. On the side, the SR scooter still looks the same. The funky dual-colored 14-inch rims have been carried over from before. But the MRF tires have been replaced for CEAT units.
Another major upgrade that the 2022 SR scooters get is a fully digital instrument cluster. This unit displays the trip meter, speed, fuel consumption, and a tachometer as well. There is no Bluetooth connectivity available with the SRs, but it will get it eventually. But the most unique update has to be the seats. The seats in the 2022 Aprilia SRs are split, which is quite unusual for a scooter. Even the SR160s closest competitor the Aerox 155, which has a more dynamic and experimental design gets a single seat.
Mechanically, the Aprilia SR160 remains the same. The SR125 will be powered by the same 124.55 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 9.78 bhp and 9.70 Nm of torque. The Aprilia SR160 on the other hand is powered by the same 160.3 cc single-cylinder, three-valve powertrain that pumps out 10.86 hp and 11.6 Nm of torque. Both the bikes are suspended on telescopic forks at the front and a single spring at the rear. Braking duties are handled by Combined Braking System in the Aprilia SR125 and the single-channel ABS system in the SR160.
