The new 2021 Bajaj CT 100 is powered by a BS6 compliant 99.27cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This BS6 motor churns out 7.9 PS of maximum power at 7500 RPM and 8.34 Nm of peak torque at 5500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. It has an electronic fuel injection system that boosts the fuel economy of the motorcycle. The addition of a fuel injection has definitely improved the throttle response and fuel efficiency when compared to its previous version that was equipped with a carburettor.
The new BS6 Bajaj CT 100 offers good low-end and mid-range performance. The 99.27cc engine is quite responsive and provides decent power output. It also offers decent performance for city commutes. While most entry-level commuters max out at 80-85 kmph, the CT100 can go up to 90 kmph easily. However, the bike feels smooth and comfortable to ride at speeds ranging from 40-60 kmph without much vibrations seeping in through the footpegs and handlebar. As for fuel economy, the motorcycle provides a superior fuel efficiency figure of 73-89.5kmpl in real-world riding conditions.
The motorcycle also performs well on rough patches thanks to its robust suspension setup. There is minimal vibration on the footpeg, fuel tank and the handle. Overall, the BS6-compliant CT 100 provides superior comfort and ride quality.
Summary
The new Bajaj CT 100 offers good performance. This commuter motorcycle packs in great low-end and mid-range punch. The BS6 version of the CT 100 also offers good fuel economy too.
The new Bajaj CT 100 is based on a tubular single down tube with a lower cradle frame The suspension duties on the motorcycle are performed by hydraulic telescopic suspension at the front and a Spring-in-Spring (SNS) shock absorber at the rear. It performs well on rough patches and provides superior comfort and ride quality. The braking duties on this commuter motorcycle are performed by a 130 mm drum brake at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the rear.
The front brake is known for its impressive feedback and bite. The rear drum brake does not disappoint either. The motorcycle also comes with the Combined Braking System (CBS). The CBS system basically applies the front brake automatically to stop the scooter or slow down while you engage the rear drum brake. This ensures efficient braking and assists the rider to come to a quick stop.
The BS6 CT100 also gets tube fitted tyres in the front and rear. The front tyre is sized 2.75 x 17 41 P, whereas, the rear tyre is of the size 3.00 x 17 50 P. These tyres provide good resistance against aquaplaning and should ensure a good amount of grip on bad sections of the road. However, TVS could have done a good job by providing tubeless fitments.
Summary
The BS6 CT 100 offers a good ride quality and strong brakes, thereby making it among the stronger performers of the segment. This motorcycle is largely preferred by rural customers due to its sheer performance in tough conditions. However, Bajaj could have offered tubeless tyres as standard.
