The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 is a good-looking sports bike that we love for its performance and easy usage. Its engine performance and fuel economy will also keep you happy. However, it has now started to look old in front of the competition. Also, the lack of features is now evident at this price point.

Should I buy the Pulsar NS 125?

The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 is a low-cost sports bike that offers distinctive looks and aggressive riding posture. The overall styling is similar to the bigger NS models and the features like a semi-digital instrument console make it a head-turner on the road. However, it is strictly meant for young buyers as it is not a very comfortable city commuter. Also, its engine performance is aggressive when compared to the other 125cc bikes in India.

Looks & Design 10

The sporty and eye-catching design of the Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 continues to meet the demands of our youthful clientele. It looks athletic for an entry-level sports commuter motorbike thanks to the cutting front design with split seats and the recognisable Pulsar tail lights. The Pulsar NS 125 is a handsome motorbike, but the riding position needs to be somewhat changed for comfortable riding. The aggressive appearance of the Pulsar NS 125 are intended to appeal to a younger audience. However, the look is getting stale and Bajaj needs to entirely overhaul the Pulsar brand.

Summary

The Pulsar NS 125 is a handsome motorcycle & looks sporty.

Dimensions 9

The Pulsar NS 125 is large enough to meet segment norms in terms of size. The Pulsar has the appearance and proportions of a large-capacity motorbike overall. Despite the Pulsar's ageing design, its overall size still qualifies it as a motorbike in this class. The Pulsar NS 125 continues to rank among the largest bikes in its class. The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has dimensions of 2,012 mm in length, 810 mm in width, and 1,078 mm in height. The 1,353 mm wheelbase is fixed.

Summary

The overall dimensions of the Pulsar NS 125 are big & bold.

Engine Performance & Mileage 8
  • Bajaj’s 125cc air-cooled engine is a rev-happy engine. It generates a peak power of 11.6 bhp that might not look much on paper but its performance is peppy and crispy.
  • The bike feels very responsive to ride even from lower rpm. Once past the mid-range i.e. 5,000 rpm mark, it can easily touch 9,000 rpm without hesitation. Also, there is no buzzing or rattling from the engine while being ridden hard.
  • The engine heat is also well controlled and the bike remains cool even after an entire day of riding hard.
  • The 5-speed transmission is slick to use and the throws are well defined as well.
  • The high kerb weight of 144kg does not bother even inside the city. The weight distribution and short turning radius make it a happy city commuter.
  • The ARAI-claimed fuel economy of the NS 125 is 46.9 kmpl but if you ride it sedately it can easily deliver more than 55 kmpl in the mix riding conditions.
Tyres Brakes & Features 9

The 17-inch alloy wheels of the Pulsar NS 125 have tubeless tyres on both ends. A single 240 mm front disc and a 130 mm rear drum brake are used to provide the braking function. The Pulsar is stopped in the appropriate amount of time thanks to the combination of both brakes. A semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, and other features are added to the Pulsar NS 125.

Summary

Pulsar 150 Twin Disc has the correct tyre size, good brakes & sufficient features.

Ride Quality & Handling 8
  • The comes with a telescopic suspension at the front and an adjustable rear monoshock. However, no matter how hard you try it remains stiff most of the time. The overall ride quality is on the stiffer side. Sharp undulations of the road and bump roads transfer jerks straight to the spine of the rider.
  • Due to the stiffer suspension, the handling of the NS 125 is very engaging. It feels confident to ride around ghats and curvy roads. Inside the city, the manoeuvrability is also sorted and even the short riders can easily potter it around the town.
Features, Braking, & Safety 6
  • Bajaj doesn’t offer much in terms of features on the NS 125. It gets an LED taillight and a semi-digital instrument console that displays basic info like odometer, trip meters, fuel economy, and a gear upshift light as well.
  • Although the NS 125 has a 240mm front disc brake and a rear drum brake, it still feels underconfident. The braking area needs improvement as the bike tends to plunge forward even after applying full braking power. A single-channel ABS, perhaps, can resolve this. However, it doesn’t come with that option.
  • The five-step adjustable rear monoshock suspension works well and provides a confident ride quality overall. It gives the rider the flexibility to adjust as per their riding requirements and changes in riding conditions.
