Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS stands out as one of the most feature-rich hatchbacks in the Indian market. Despite being Hyundai's entry-level model in India, it surpasses other hatchbacks in its segment with a wealth of features. Offering two engine options, including the 1.2L NA petrol and a CNG powertrain, the Grand i10 NIOS proves to be an excellent choice for first-time car buyers.

Variant Recommendation
The base ERA variant of the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS lacks most features, and we do not recommend this option. For those on a budget seeking basic features, the Magna variant is a suitable choice with decent features. The Sportz variant stands out as one of the most recommended in the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS lineup, offering both manual and AMT gearbox options, along with a good range of features. Finally, if you desire all features without compromise, you may consider the Asta variant, although it is slightly overpriced.
Pros & Cons of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
Should I buy the Grand i10 Nios?
For first-time car buyers seeking a budget-friendly hatchback with decent space, good features, and reliable engine options, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is a suitable choice. It provides a fuel-efficient petrol engine, an option for a company-fitted CNG, and a variety of convenience and safety features. However, if prioritizing a higher GNCAP safety rating is crucial, the Tata Tiago is worth considering, as it boasts a better safety rating compared to the Grand i10 NIOS.
- The Grand i10 NIOS has received a refreshed front design featuring a new bumper and radiator grille, lending the car a more modern and sporty look. The brand has updated the DRLs and introduced a gloss-black radiator grille. Departing from the boomerang design of the previous generation, the new DRLs now form a Y shape. The projector fog lamps from the earlier model have been replaced, with DRLs now occupying their positions.
- The side profile showcases newly designed alloy wheels with a diamond-cut pattern. The overall side profile maintains a resemblance to its predecessor, with the Grand i10 badge visible on the C-pillar of the hatchback.
- The hatchback's rear sees a notable change with the introduction of a new LED tail lamp featuring a connected light. Both the placement and badging of the reverse parking camera have been altered. Two parking sensors are now positioned on the rear bumper. Alongside roof rails, the roof is equipped with a shark-fin antenna for added functionality.
- The Hyundai compact hatchback's interior remains largely unchanged from the previous generation, featuring a dual-tone color scheme for an airy ambiance. Notable updates include different lining on the front seats and NIOS branding on the integrated headrest.
- On the features front, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, and a USB-C fast charging outlet. The updated instrument cluster now includes an MID screen and two analogue dials. It also offers several other features to enhance the cabin appeal.
- The back seat offers ample space and comfort for two adults, with a 12-volt charging outlet beneath the rear air vent. The 260-liter trunk easily accommodates two mid-size trolley bags and one or two shoulder bags.
- The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS facelift continues to offer the 1.2-liter NA petrol engine, producing 83 bhp and a maximum torque of 113.8 Nm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, with an optional AMT unit. The bi-fuel variant utilizes the same engine, generating a maximum output of 95 Nm and 69 bhp, with only a manual transmission available.
- In terms of performance, the engine delivers a strong initial pickup, and power is delivered linearly. At 4,000 RPM, where it reaches its maximum torque, the delivery is enjoyable. The manual transmission version features smooth and easy gear changes, offering a small amount of fun with its short gearing.
- The well-designed engine provides balanced performance and good fuel efficiency, with a stated mileage of 20.7 km/l for the manual variant.
- The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS now offers improved ride quality, managing to maintain controlled NVH levels. However, the engines aren't fully insulated, allowing some noise into the cabin. The car handles small potholes and speed bumps well at moderate speeds, but approaching potholes at slightly higher speeds may result in a jerky experience due to the shorter suspension travel.
- The steering response is smooth and leans towards the lighter side, making it beneficial for city driving and during rush hours. The straightforward steering control simplifies maneuvers, and the steering height is adjustable.
