Pros & Cons

Pros
  • India’s first geared electric motorcycle gives control to the rider
  • Loaded with features like a 7-inch touchscreen cluster, connected features, keyless passive lock, park assist, and more
  • The touchscreen cluster is easy to navigate and intuitive, even for first-time users.
  • Claimed range of 172 km with its 5 kWh battery
  • Good power and torque delivery in every mode
  • Comfortable ergonomics, with a 790mm seat height, suitable for tall and short riders.
  • Decent fit and finish of the panels
  • Powerful Engine: 250cc liquid-cooled motor with 29.5bhp and 25Nm ensures strong performance.
  • Sporty Design: Aggressive streetfighter styling with sharp bodywork and LED lighting.
  • Feature-Packed: TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, riding modes, traction control.
  • Performance-Oriented Handling: Trellis frame, USD forks, and preload-adjustable monoshock.
  • Slipper Clutch: Reduces wheel lock-up during aggressive downshifts.
  • Dual-Channel ABS: Offers better braking control with switchable rear ABS.
Cons
  • Low availability and brand recall
  • The price is on the higher side
  • Gearing in an EV functions differently than in an ICE vehicle; it takes time to get accustomed to the system
  • The handlebar feels heavy during cornering or sharp turns
  • The factory setting of the rear suspension is on the stiffer side
  • No Adjustable Levers: Lacks adjustable brake and clutch levers for better ergonomics.
  • Pillion may feel uncomfortable: Due to a smaller pillion seat, pillion may find it discomforting to sit for longer rides.
  • Build quality: The bike uses hard plastic in some areas, but this is okay when we look at the price point.
  • Low visibility of the TFT screen: The TFT screen offers good visibility in the shade but struggles under direct sunlight.
  • Stiff Competition: Faces tough rivals like KTM 250 Duke and Bajaj Pulsar N250, but an aggressive price point is the key of success for the brand.

The Matter Aera features a street-fighter style with youthful design cues. Overall, the bike looks quite sporty and is oriented toward younger buyers. It gets a sharp-looking LED headlight, sculpted side panels and tank, and a split seat setup. The trellis frame remains slightly exposed, with the motor and battery nestled in between. Even the alloy wheel design on the Matter EV is quite distinct.
