The sub-compact SUVs are very popular in the Indian market. We already have a lot of compact SUVs in India ranging from the Ford EcoSport to the Kia Sonet. The EcoSport is the oldest car in the sub-4-metre compact SUV segment and the Kia Sonet is the latest entrant. But now, soon we will have another car in this segment and it is the new Nissan Magnite. The Magnite will be launched in India very soon and ahead of its official launch, today we have something really special for you. Here, we have a detailed article on the mileage test run of the new 2020 Nissan Magnite BS6 CVT Automatic.

You can click on the above-embedded video to watch our mileage test video or can continue scrolling down below to read about it. However, before we begin our words on the fuel-efficiency test, let me quickly run you through the specifications of the car. So, the upcoming 2020 Nissan Magnite will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This motor will churn out 72 PS of power at 6250 RPM and 96 Nm of peak torque at 3500 RPM. It will also get a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This turbo petrol motor will churn out 100 PS of maximum power at 5000 RPM and 160 Nm of peak torque at 2800 - 3600 RPM (152 Nm of torque at 2200 - 4400 RPM for CVT). Both the engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the turbo petrol will also get a CVT.

Our companion in this fuel-efficiency test was the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol model of the Magnite paired with the CVT. We drove this car 70 per cent inside the city limits of the National Capital Delhi and the remaining 30 per cent on the highways. We encountered a bit of stop and go traffic jams in the city and the city-run was done intentionally as we wanted to tell our viewers/readers how much does the BS6 Nissan Turbo Petrol CVT actually delivers in real-world driving conditions. It is worth mentioning that to know the exact error-free mileage of the car, we didn't rely on the MID of the car and instead, we used the tankful to tankful method. First of all, we reached the fuel station and kept filling the petrol until the auto cut came.

We drove the Nissan Magnite inside the city and also on the Delhi-Gurgaon Highway and overall, it was a mixed run inside the city and on the highway. After completing our mileage test-run, just before entering the fuel station, we toggled through the drive computer to know the driving stats. So, we covered a total distance of 125.9 kilometres in this car in around 4 hours and 11 minutes and the average speed of our car was around 30.4 kmph. The instrument cluster of the Nissan Magnite displayed a fuel-efficiency of 14.7 kmpl but it was time to know the actual genuine report. So, again we used the auto cut method and the Magnite sipped in 8.12 litres of petrol.

Thus, by doing simple maths i.e. total distance travelled divided by the total fuel consumed, we got an actual real-world mileage of 15.50 kmpl, which is very impressive, considering it is a brand new car. So, this was our mileage test run of the new upcoming 2020 Nissan Magnite BS6 CVT Automatic. It will be launched in India on December 2, 2020, and is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.50 lakhs - Rs. 9.50 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. What are your thoughts on the Magnite CVT's mileage?
