2021 KTM 250 Adventure BS6 Pros and Cons - Should You Buy It?

Adventure Tourers are becoming very popular in India. We now have a lot of adventurer tourer motorcycles currently on sale in the country even in the sub-3 lakh rupees budget category. These include the Hero Xpulse 200, Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, etc. The 390 Adventure was the first ADV from KTM in India and it was an instant hit. But, to widen its reach, the company recently launched the new KTM 250 Adventure. Today, in this article, we have shared with you the Pros and Cons of the new 2021 KTM 250 Adventure BS6.

2021 KTM 250 Adventure BS6 - Pros and Cons

PROS

Striking Looks - The new KTM 250 Adventure looks completely identical to its elder sibling 390 Adventure and that's a good thing because the 390 ADV is a handsome motorcycle. The new KTM 250 ADV gets LED turn indicators, LED taillamp and a small fly-screen. Talking about colour options, the new KTM 250 Adventure is available in two colour shades - Orange and Black.

Engine Performance - The new KTM 250 Adventure is powered by a BS6 compliant 248.8cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 30 PS of power at 9000 RPM and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7250 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and just like most other KTM's, it offers great performance. This new quarter-litre KTM ADV gets a technologically advanced Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC) which allows for a smooth and jerk-free clutch-less down-shifting.

Good Hardware - KTM Motorcycles are known for their rich hardware and the new KTM 250 Adventure is no different. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are performed by a set of WP APEX shockers. At the front, it gets 43 mm upside-down (USD) forks with 170 mm of travel and at the rear, it gets a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber with 177 mm of travel. For braking duties, it gets a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear along with dual-channel ABS and KTM's off-road ABS mode.

Easy To Ride - The KTM 250 Adventure has relaxed ergonomics, an upright seating posture and it feels very easy to ride, even in the city traffic.

CONS

Seat Height - The KTM 250 Adventure has a seat height of 855 mm and it isn't meant for short riders at all.

No Spoke Wheels - The KTM 250 Adventure gets new MRF Mogrip Meteor-FM2 tyres. The front tyre of the motorcycle measures 110/70-19 while the rear one is a 150/60-section 17-inch unit. The tyres are tubeless and it gets alloys, the spoke wheels are not offered as of now, not even as an option.

Equipment on Offer - The 390 Adventure is a very feature-rich motorcycle but the 250 ADV is only decently loaded. It gets an all-new 5.0-inch LCD display (not TFT like the 390 ADV) that displays a host of information but misses out on smartphone and Bluetooth connectivity. It doesn't even get a full LED headlight.

Not a Value for Money Deal - The KTM 250 Adventure is currently priced at Rs. 2.51 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. At this price point, it isn't a great ADV but yes, if you are a KTM fan and can't stretch your budget for the 390 ADV, you can definitely go with it.
