Pros & Cons of KTM Duke 200
KTM Duke 200 Detailed Review
- The design of the Duke 200 is very sharp and aggressive. It looks youthful and sporty on the road. Also, it has the same design aesthetics and design elements as the Duke 390. The dimensions of Duke 200 make it look bigger than its actual size. Hence, the on-road presence of it is great.
- The Duke 200 is a street sports bike. It has a committed riding posture for city riding. The footpegs are set towards the rear while the tubular handlebar is upright. Therefore, the rider triangle of the Duke 200 is meant for short rides only. Over long rides, the hard seat and the lack of space to move results in fatigue.
- The engine performance of the KTM Duke 200 is thrilling in every sense. The liquid-cooled engine offers very good mid-range as well as top-end performance. However, below 2,500 rpm, there is an evident lack of torque, which needs to be evened out by half-throttle. The refinement of this engine is also good, but there is some buzz that travels to the footpegs and handlebar in mid-range. The engine heat of the Duke 200 is also very well contained, and it doesn’t bother much in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
- KTM has equipped the Duke 200 with disc brakes at both ends. The braking power of Duke is spot on. The initial bites from the brakes are very nice. Also, even after a long day of use, the brakes do not fade in performance.
- KTM has equipped the Duke 200 with a USD front suspension and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock suspension. The ride quality through this setup is on the stiffer side. The sporty nature of the bike is reflected during corners, as the suspension offers great confidence. On good tarmac, the bike remains calm and pliant. However, broken roads and road cracks are felt on the handlebar. Overall, the suspension is set up for sporty city riding.
- The handling of the Duke 200 is very agile. It feels like a sharp knife cutting through hot butter in city traffic. The agility and low centre of gravity make for easy lane switches. Also, the low kerb weight helps achieve fast speeds easily. Taking sharp corners and curves is fun on the Duke.
- KTM has equipped the Duke 200 with all the latest features. It has a digital screen that displays multi-info. Also, it gets Bluetooth connectivity for the smartphones. The LED headlight and 17-inch alloy wheels make it look even better. It also has a USB phone charger for the convenience of the rider.
- The Duke 200 comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS that works very well in difficult riding conditions. The brakes also offer good feedback and hence the overall safety of the bike is good.
