Bajaj Dominar 250 Detailed Review

Looks and Design 7

It's a good thing that the Bajaj Dominar 250 looks exactly like its older sibling, the Dominar 400, because it gives the rider the impression that they are riding a larger motorbike with a powerful engine. The redesigned Dominar 400 UG serves as the foundation for the Dominar 250. While at first glance it may be difficult to tell these two motorcycles apart, a closer inspection reveals that the Dominar 250 appears to be relatively slimmer than its predecessor. Additionally, the Dominar 250 has standard alloy wheels that have been painted white, while the Dominar 400 has diamond-cut alloy wheels. Additionally, the older sibling receives D400 badges all over the body panels, whereas the younger member of the family receives D250 badging.

The Bajaj Dominar 250 is a stylish motorcycle that has LED turn indicators and an all-LED headlamp up front. The motorcycle's enormous, powerful gasoline tank, along with the tank's sharp extensions and shrouds, makes it easier for the rider to lock his or her knees while covering lengthy distances on highway runs. It features a split seat configuration, an underbelly cowl to shield the engine, and other aggressive features. As a touring vehicle, the Dominar 250 also has a twin-barrel exhaust, and Bajaj provides bungee straps on either side of the seat to hold luggage while riding for long distance trips. It has an LED tail lamp at the back and is currently available in three new dual-tone colour schemes. Citrus Rush with Matt Silver, Sparkling Black with Matt Silver, and Racing Red with Matt Silver are the colours.

Summary

The Bajaj Dominar 250 is a handsome motorcycle that looks completely identical to its elder sibling. However, the Dominar 250's new dual-tone colour shades lend it a unique appeal. Similarity with the Dominar 400 in terms of styling appeals to people who want a 250cc bike that feels big.

Dimensions and Capacity 8

With the exception of weight, the Bajaj Dominar 250's proportions are exactly the same as the Dominar 400's. Seven kilogrammes less than its older sibling, the quarter-litre Dominar. This motorcycle measures about 2156 mm in length, 836 mm in width, and 1112 mm in height. The Dominar 250 features a 1453 mm wheelbase and 157 mm ground clearance, which is respectable enough to handle shoddy speed barriers and uneven terrain. The motorcycle has a powerful 13-liter gasoline tank, which is also helpful because it will give you a respectable riding range while travelling over long distances. The seat height of the Dominar 250 is 800 mm.

Summary

The Bajaj Dominar has healthy proportions, and it weighs 7 kgs lesser than its elder sibling. It also has decent ground clearance, but the seat height is on the higher side. The 13-litre fuel tank is a boon for long journeys due to the decent range offered.

Engine Performance and Mileage 8

A 248.8cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, twin spark, liquid-cooled engine with BS6 compliance and Bajaj's trademarked DTS-i technology also powers the Bajaj Dominar 250. At 8500 RPM, this BS6 motor produces a maximum power of 27 PS and a maximum torque of 23.5 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The KTM Duke 250 also uses this engine to do its tasks. The engine has been modified, though, to provide a little less power and torque and to increase fuel efficiency. The Bajaj Dominar 250 performs admirably. It never feels underpowered and always has enough energy to pass cars on highways. You will like riding the Dominar 250 between 80 and 110 kmph because of its excellent midrange performance. The quarter-liter Dominar can reach its top speed of approximately 140 kmph in the fifth gear alone. The sixth gear is an override gear that allows the engine to rev at a lower RPM to improve fuel economy. The Bajaj Dominar 250 BS6's ARAI-stated fuel efficiency is 35 kmpl, and in actual riding circumstances, it also achieves 28–35 kmpl on mixed usage.

Summary

The Dominar 250cc is powered by an engine that is not only refined but is peppy too. The 6-speed gearbox gives the bike excellent touring capabilities and also helps in attaining good fuel efficiency numbers

Tyres, Brakes and Features 8.5

The Bajaj Dominar 250 sits on a beam-type perimeter frame. This motorbike with a quarter-liter engine has 37 mm USD or upside-down forks at the front and a multi-step adjustable Nitrox mono-shock absorber at the back to handle suspension chores. The Dominar 250 provides excellent ride quality on a variety of surfaces. The motorcycle has 17-inch tubeless tyres, although unlike the Dominar 400, these are not radial tyres. The motorcycle's front tyre is sized 100/80-17, while the rear tyre is a 17-inch unit with a 130/70 section. These tyres give the rider good traction and assurance.

At each end of the Dominar 250, disc brakes handle the vehicle's stopping needs. It has a big 300 mm disc in front, and a 230 mm disc at the back. Additionally, it has dual-channel ABS, which is an added safety feature, and the Dominar 250 has excellent braking capabilities. The Dominar 250 has an assist & slipper clutch when it comes to features. Additionally, a fuel tank-mounted auxiliary screen and an all-digital main instrument cluster are included. Digital speedometers, tachometers, fuel gauges, clocks, trip metres, and other instruments are displayed in the main cluster. However, the Bajaj Dominar 250's secondary screen simply shows warning lights, unlike the Dominar 400.

Summary

The Bajaj Dominar 250 packs in decent hardware at this price point and it is quite feature-loaded too. However, it would have been even better if Bajaj Auto would have offered the same secondary screen as its elder sibling.
