KIA Carnival 2020-2023 Detailed Review

Exterior 9

Kia Carnival is a good looking multi-purpose vehicle and it has a great road presence, all thanks to its massive proportions. At the front, the Carnival gets Kia's signature tiger-nose grille with chrome accents all-around. The grille of the MPV is flanked by sweptback all-LED projector headlamps and it even gets thin LED strips disguised as daytime-running lights. This size is elevated by the use of ice-cube-shaped fog lights, DRLs, and LED projector headlamps. The huge grille also has a beautiful finish that resembles aluminium.Moving to the side profile, one can see how long this luxury MPV really is.

Because of its massive size and intimidating road presence, the Kia Carnival is a huge beast. The Carnival features relatively few cuts and wrinkles on its body panels, giving it a flat, smooth look. Additionally, it has a sliding door system allowing second-row passengers to enter and exit. The 18-inch alloy wheels used by the Carnival have a brilliant design and certainly seem quite nice and expensive. It has a shark-fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, and LED taillights in the back. Along with faux-skid plates at the front and back, the Carnival also receives a lot of chrome embellishments all throughout. There are presently only three colour options available for the Kia Carnival in India. Glacier White Pearl, Steel Silver, and Aurora Black Pearl are their names.

The length of the Kia Carnival, a high-end MPV, is more than 5 metres. The Carnival has the following dimensions in exactitude: 5115 mm in length, 1985 mm in width, and 1755 mm in height. This people mover has a large ground of 180 mm and a wheelbase of 3060 mm. The enormous 540 litre trunk space and 60 litre fuel tank of the Carnival are also impressive features. To put it simply, the Carnival is a mammoth that is clearly seen from a distance.

Summary

The new Kia Carnival has massive proportions. This luxury people mover offers a massive boot space, good ground clearance and a large fuel tank with a total capacity of 60 litres.

Interior 9.5

The new Kia Carnival is a big MPV and thanks to its massive proportions, it has acres of space inside the cabin. To step inside the cabin, you push the button on the door handle or the key, the door glides open on its own. To do the same thing in a more satisfying manner, pull the door handle. In contrast to SUVs, this MPV is lower to the ground, making entry easy and senior-friendly.Step inside the cabin and you can feel how premium the Carnival is. The Kia Carnival is available with multiple seating configurations which include a seven-, eight-, and a nine-seater layout. A wide range of buyers, including five-star hotels, luxury taxi service providers, and even individual clients who wish to embark on a luxury van tour, are drawn to the Carnival's many seating configurations. When you wish to slide it all the way back, do this to prevent running against the interior body-side panels. Once finished, you may relax on the chairs' leg rests, which can be extended to create a recliner-like configuration. When it comes to comfort and room, even the third row is among the finest. To get to the last bench, you can either slide the middle row or just walk between the captain's chairs. When compared to Kia's own vehicles, such as the Seltos and Sonet, which are far less expensive than the Carnival, the dashboard of the latter appears a little old. But it comes with much more useful features than one may anticipate. On longer trips, the driver can feel at home with amenities like a ventilated driver seat, cruise control, three-zone temperature control, and an auto day-night IRVM. With a 10-way power-adjustable seat and a steering wheel that can be tilted and telescoped, ergonomics are taken care of as well.

The Kia Carnival is equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connections. It also has Kia's UVO Connected Car technology, which enables you to operate a number of the car's features using a smartphone or wristwatch. Other highlights of the 2017 Kia Carnival include dual-pane electric sunroofs, a 220V laptop charger, Harman-Kardon audio system, electric power-sliding doors with a smart power tailgate, and more. A 10.1-inch dual touchscreen rear-seat entertainment package, VIP seats, three-zone temperature control, a ventilated driver seat with 10-way adjustment, smartwatch watch connection, and other luxurious features are included in the Carnival's top-spec Limousine model.

Summary

The new Kia Carnival is a luxury people mover and it gets a host of features. The top-spec Limousine variant of the Carnival packs in a lot of exquisite features and VIP seats that offer a rich in-cabin experience.

Engine Performance 9

The Kia Carnival is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.2-liter diesel engine. The Kia Carnival is the most powerful MPV currently on sale in the Indian market. The Kia Carnival is front-wheel driven, unlike its competitors, and only comes with one diesel engine that is paired with an automatic transmission. The 2.2L unit installed here is BS6 compliant right out of the box. It generates 440Nm of torque and 197.2 bhp of power. Power is delivered in a smooth linear manner with terrific NVH levels inside the cabin.

Although this MPV is a people mover, don't anticipate it to have amazing acceleration runs. The Carnival's engine seems very drab at lower RPMs and it weights more than 2.2 tonnes.
But the Kia Carnival's powerful 2.2-liter diesel engine's midrange performance will really blow you away. Due to the enormous twisting force available, the Carnival gives a very strong mid-range performance, and this MPV pulls smoothly. The Carnival's top-end performance isn't all that impressive, as you might expect from an MPV. But in all honesty, the Kia Carnival is a fantastic mile-eater and can comfortably travel at speeds of 80-110 kmph without any problems. The India-specific ARAI claims that the Kia Carnival gets 13.7 kilometres per litre.

Summary

The Kia Carnival offers great performance and its diesel engine truly shines at mid-range. The Carnival offers decent fuel economy and its ARAI claimed mileage is 13.7 kmpl.

Ride & Handling 10

Kia claims that the Kia Carnival has been tuned for Indian road conditions and we do agree that as this luxury people mover offers a great ride quality. For an MPV of its size to satisfy its owners, the ride must be pleasant, which the Carnival manages with remarkable ease. In order to adequately cushion you over typical speed bumps and patched-in tarmac, there is independent suspension on all four corners, with McPherson struts up front and multi-links in the back. The Kia Carnival is an MPV and it does its duty in style. First, let’s talk about the driving feel and comfort from the driver’s seat. So, the driver gets a nice view of what’s around thanks to the Carnival’s massive windows and SUV-like stance. The Carnival gets a chunky steering wheel. However, what’s the good thing about it is that it doesn’t feel vague at all.

The Carnival's steering wheel feels light at city speeds, making it easy to manoeuvre this 2.2-ton MPV there, while on the highways, it weighs up well and provides positive input even at triple-digit speeds. But since it's an MPV at its core, it's not designed for drifting or sharp turns. When it comes to comfort during the trip, the Carnival has a very smooth ride quality and it easily navigates even bumpy sections of road. The MPV's amazing seats, along with its excellent ride quality, provide a terrific experience that very few other cars in India can match.

Summary

The Kia Carnival offers a great ride quality and it keeps the passengers at utmost comfort levels. The Carnival, even being an MPV, offers good feedback from the steering wheel.

Safety 8.5
There are several safety features available for the Kia Carnival. Up to six airbags, an ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), and brake assist are among the safety features of the Carnival. All-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat fixings, a high-speed alert system, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, etc. are also included. Your entire family is intended to travel on the Carnival, so clearly, safety is a worry and the Kia Carnival takes care of that.

Electronic Stability Program with Hill Assist Control, Roll-Over reduction, Cornering Brake Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, etc. are some other cutting-edge safety features of the Carnival. The third-generation Kia Carnival built for India hasn't undergone any crash tests. Although it seems like a well-built automobile, the manufacturer offers a wide range of active and passive safety systems.

Summary

The Kia Carnival is a very feature-rich car and it gets a host of safety equipment too. However, it needs to be mentioned that the India-spec Carnival has not been crash-tested yet.
