Honda Two-wheelers India recently launched the all-new Honda CB 500X in the country. The new Honda CB 500X is a middle-weight adventurer-tourer motorcycle from the house of this Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer. The price of the Honda CB 500X starts at Rs. 6.87 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and at this price point, it seems very expensive. Also, it slots in between the KTM 390 ADV, Benelli TRK 502 and the Kawasaki Versys 650. So, in this article, we have done a spec comparo of the Honda CB 500X vs KTM 390 Adventure.

Honda CB 500X vs KTM 390 Adventure - Engine and Transmission

The new Honda CB 500X is powered by a BS6 compliant 471cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, four-valve, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 47 PS of maximum power at 8500 RPM and 43.2 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The new KTM 390 Adventure, on the other hand, draws power from a BS6 compliant 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 43.5 PS of maximum power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, both these ADV-tourer motorcycles get a slip and assist clutch as standard.

Honda CB 500X vs KTM 390 ADV - Tyres, Brakes and Features

The Honda CB 500X sits on a steel tube frame while the KTM 390 ADV gets a trellis frame. The CB 500X gets telescopic forks at the front with 150 mm of travel and a mono-shock at the rear with 135 mm travel. The 390 ADV gets 43 mm USD forks at the front with 170 mm travel and a mono-shock at the rear with 177 mm travel. Both the motorcycles get disc brakes at either end with dual-channel ABS. The CB 500X gets a 110/80-19 tyre at the front and a 160/60-17 tyre at the rear. The 390 ADV gets a 100/90-19 tyre at the front and a 130/80-17 tyre at the rear. These ADVs are quite feature-loaded and get an all-digital cluster. The 390 ADV also gets traction control and a quickshifter.

The price of the new Honda CB 500X BS6 starts at Rs. 6.87 lakhs while the KTM 390 Adventure BS6 is priced from Rs. 3.10 lakhs. All the prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi. Now, at this price point, the Honda CB 500X costs more than double that of the KTM 390 ADV. The KTM 390 ADV is a VFM machine and though the CB 500X doesn't justify its price, it sure is a great bike. Also, it's worth mentioning is that the Honda CB 500X is sold via the company's premium BigWing outlets only, which are very limited in numbers.
