Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 Launched, Bookings Open Now

India's most affordable mid-capacity adventure motorcycle will now be available with a BS6 compliant engine. Priced from Rs 1,86,811 (ex-showroom) onwards, bookings for the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 open today. Additionally, the bike gets new colour options as well. Pricing varies as per the colour you pick: Rs 1,86,811 for the Snow White and Granite colours, Rs 1,89,565 for the Sleet Grey and Gravel Grey and Rs 1,91,401 for Rock Red and Lake Blue options.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 also gets a very important update. While dual-channel ABS (works on both wheels) is standard, it now gives the rider an option to switch off the rear wheel's ABS as and when required. This is very helpful off the road when you want the rear to lock up around corners, or while sliding around and having fun. Likewise, as visible here, when riding on snow, ABS at the rear usually ends up giving you no braking at all as the sensors keep lifting off the brake pressure every now and then.

The company also claims that brakes have been enhanced and the bike comes with a shorter stopping distance. The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 also gets an improved side-stand that shall ensure easier parking on any kind of terrains. Further, hazard lights are practical and useful to warn others on the road. It also gets three new shades of Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, and Rock Red. This should appeal to a wider set of audience. The bike carries a standard warranty of 3 years.

The Himalayan is meant to be ridden to places that are otherwise not suitable for everyday motorcycles. This is where owners will want to invest into accessories that come handy during touring rides. Some of the add-ons include an aluminium handlebar with cross brace, 26-litre aluminum panniers, touring seats with 3D mesh, a large engine guard for protection and so on. These come backed with a warranty of 2 years from the date of sale and can be bought at the dealer level itself.
