Nissan India currently offers two SUVs in the market - the Terrano and the Kicks. Both these SUVs are not very popular in the market at a time when the SUVs are gaining numbers on the charts and manufacturers are launching new options in the market. Well, to overcome the problem, the upcoming Nissan SUV will be launched to take on the established vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and more.
Nissan has officially revealed the second teaser image of the car after releasing the first one in January 2020. The second teaser image of the upcoming vehicle shows the 3D LED tail lamps of the vehicle. Nissan earlier released an image that shows the side profile and gives an idea of what the vehicle will look like in real life.
The launch time frame of the upcoming Nissan SUV has not been disclosed yet. However, the manufacturer has indicated that the car will be launched in the first half of 2020 and we think that the vehicle will arrive in May or June of this year. Nissan is also yet to reveal the name of the upcoming vehicle.
The teaser image of Nissan's upcoming car shows that the vehicle's design from the side will be very much inspired by the Kicks. However, the design of the LED tail lamp on the car indicates that it will get a futuristic design and will offer a similarly designed front-end.
The upcoming Nissan SUV will be based on the CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the Renault Triber in the Indian market. Since Renault is also working on the all-new HBC, which will be based on the exact same platform, we can expect a high number of part sharing between the two cars. However, both the vehicles will offer different design language and there will be ample differentiation in terms of design between the two. It will be similar to the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano but expect more individualistic designs in the upcoming car from the partner brands.
Nissan will utilise the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine to power the car. It produces about 100 PS of maximum power of 160 Nm of peak torque and will offer a manual as well as an automatic transmission.
