Pros & Cons of Bajaj Platina 100
Bajaj Platina 100 Detailed Review
The Bajaj Platina 100 is undoubtedly one of the most popular commuter bikes in India. The looks and design of the Platina 100 are slim and sleek. It has already established itself in the bike market due to its simplistic design and outlook. The Platina 100 model may appear to be quite similar to the company's earlier model but it has been improved via some design changes. Cocktail wine red, black silver, ebony black with gold decals, ebony black with blue decals, and ebony black with red decals are some of the colours available for this model. It comes with the standard Halogen headlamps, but this time with LED DRLs that are pretty elegant and noticeable even in low light. The front visor cowl has now been redesigned to make it look more butch & mature altogether.
Another feature of this Bajaj Platina model is the newly installed reflectors, which, coupled with the designed rearview mirrors, give the bike a luxury appearance. The 17-inch silver alloy wheels that suit the chrome handlebar enhance the quality appearance. It features an analog instrument cluster, a black pillion grab rail, halogen tail lamps, a rear fender with a reflector, and an exhaust with a chrome guard. Even the tank guard on the bike adds to the bike's dynamic engineering and protects the gasoline tank.
Summary
The Bajaj Platina 100 may appear to be similar to any other commuter bike with a traditional appearance when viewed from the side, but with all of these features and specs, it has developed its own distinct personality with a fresh visual appeal.
As the Bajaj Platina 100 caters to the commuter biking segment in India, its overall dimensions of it are slim and sleek. The nimble handling results from this elegant design that the Indian commuter bike customers will love. The Bajaj Platina 100 has a length of 2006 mm, a width of 713 mm, and a height of 1100 mm. The two-saddle wheeler's height is 807mm, and the ground clearance is 200mm, with a kerb weight of 117kg. The Bajaj Platina 100 has a 1255 mm wheelbase. The bore is 47 mm, and the stroke is 58.8 mm. The rear brake is 110 mm, while the front brake measures 130 mm. The slim profile of the bike is well matched with the slim tyres hence helping the agile handling of it inside the city traffic conditions.
Summary
The Bajaj Platina 100 has standard dimensions that can be seen in most mid-range bikes.
The Platina 100 is powered by a 102cc BS6 gasoline engine that produces 7.9 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 8.34 Nm at 5,500 r/pm. This type has a gasoline tank size of 11 litres and a reserve fuel capacity of 2 litres. The system is air-cooled and has a chain drive 4-gear transmission. The gearbox shift pattern of it resembles the older Bajaj bikes which came with an all-down upshift. The strong DTS-I engine provides higher mileage and performance qualities. Because it uses two spark plugs to alternately ignite the air-fuel mixture, it enhances the flame width and burns the gasoline instantly, giving it higher mileage than other bikes. The engine of the Bajaj Platina 100 is one of its USPs among new customers. The performance is adequate for city turf and the bike can easily carry the load over steep inclines. Additionally, the fuel economy is one of the highest in India & it surprisingly retains its position for that.
Summary
It has a bulky CatCon on the header pipe. The Bajaj Platina 100 offers a mileage of 75-90 km/pl.
With the self-start feature, the Bajaj Platina 100 provides a smooth ride at the touch of a button. Even on extended excursions through the city, the long seat suspension makes it easier and more comfortable for the rider and pillion. The bigger rubber footpads are a smart move by Bajaj because they provide better grip and make positioning the foot for the pillion easier. Although the tyres of the Bajaj Platina 100 are slim and sleek, their performance from them is always adequate. The combination of brakes with tyres creates confidence-inspiring handling for the rider.
A telescopic front suspension prevents the spring from moving around unnecessarily, ensuring a smooth ride even on uneven terrain. It also comes with a dual-tone front fender, front and rear drum brakes, 2.75x17, 41p tube-type front tyre, 3.00x17,50p tube type rear tyre, and 80/100-17 46p tyre sizes. It incorporates a CBS (combined braking system) that connects the front and rear brakes, making it more efficient than the competition. It has a wet multi-plate clutch, which helps to withstand greater abuse by allowing the clutch plate to cool due to the presence of engine oil. This clutch also has the advantage of being quieter at idle, making it ideal for stop-and-go traffic. The pressure in tubeless tyres is 25-32 psi. The front suspension is 135mm hydraulic telescopic, while the rear suspension is 110mm spring on spring (SOS) with Nitrox Gas Canister. These Nitrox Gas Canisters, commonly known as "Gas-Filled Shock Absorbers," prevent foaming of hydraulic oil inside the damper as a result of intensive use or dampening action, ensuring that the suspension's performance stays consistent.
Summary
The tyre, brakes and safety features have commendable specifications that make the ride safer and more comfortable.
