Honda’s engineering offers a very smooth riding experience with very little to complain about. The engine is fuel-efficient, the ride is smoother, & its handling is also neutral. However, nothing is exciting about the SP 160. Meaning, it is a simple yet sporty bike that is built to last for years without any breakdown. We recommend it to those wanting a practical yet premium commuter bike.
- The design of the SP 160 is very simple yet sporty. It looks elegant and proportionate from every angle. Thanks to the wide 130-section rear tyre, the overall appeal of it is that of a big bike. Also, the single seat is wide and offers a lot of space to the rider as well as the pillion. The black engine components contrast with the colour options pretty well. But, it doesn’t stand out in the crowd as this design is very neutral and not exciting.
- In terms of features, Honda offers LED headlight and taillight on it. It also gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a fully-digital instrument console, and petal disc brakes as well. Rivals like Hero Xtreme 160R 4V offer better features like Bluetooth connectivity and more.
- The riding position of the SP 160 is one of the most comfortable in its segment. As it is designed to be a commuter, the handlebar is tilted towards the rider while the footpegs are set a little bit backwards. Thus, it gives a comfortable yet commanding riding position.
- The single seat of SP 160 is very well designed. It is wide enough for anyone to sit and ride it for long hours comfortably. Also, the pillion gets ample space to move on the seat. Hence, the overall comfort is very generous. Due to the good mix of upright sitting position and wide seat, the SP 160 is one of the most comfortable bikes in its segment.
- The engine of the SP 160 is one of its strongest highlights. The air-cooled FI engine is the smoothest among its rivals. The power delivery is very linear and the mid-range of it offers a good punch in overtaking slow-moving traffic. However, the top-end performance is not great and hence overtaking on the highway needs planning. Inside the city, this engine remains cool even in bad traffic. The low-end torque of it is delightful to use even with a pillion onboard.

- The suspension set up of the SP 160 is well-tuned for the Indian roads. It offers a brilliant ride quality on the tarmac as well as on the bad roads. The suspension absorbs most of the bumps and the rider remains in confidence due to the plaint ride quality. However, the lack of stiffness feels around the corners if you’re riding fast. It is not a fast 160cc bike and hence the suspension is made for a sedate riding experience.
- The low center of gravity means that the agility of the bike is very good. Also, due to its lightweight, the SP 160 remain an easy-handling machine inside the city. Even with a pillion, one can easily handle it through the thick traffic and narrow streets.
