Pros & Cons of Honda Unicorn
Honda Unicorn Detailed Review
The Honda Unicorn 160 is a premium commuter bike and it does look premium, thanks to new chrome accents on the body parts. The front of the commuter motorcycle features a single-pod halogen headlight. A front cowl with a chrome trim surrounds the headlight. A chrome logo on the fuel tank gives the whole thing a premium appearance. However, the motorcycle still gets a halogen headlamp and it would have been better if Honda would have offered an LED unit. The motorcycle also gets a blacked-out visor that is integrated with the body panels and there are blacked-out rear-view mirrors too. Moving to the side profile, one can see that the Unicorn does have a butch stance.
The long, flat, single-piece seat of the new Honda Unicorn 160 provides excellent levels of comfort. The motorcycle's lower half is entirely blacked out, giving it a more elegant appearance. There are also subtle chrome embellishments. It has a sizable tail lamp in the back, but it is also a halogen lamp. The turn indicators on the motorcycle are halogen and there are no LEDs at all. Three different colour options are presently offered for the brand-new 2021 Honda Unicorn 160. They are Pearl Igneous Black, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, and Imperial Red Metallic.
Summary
The new Honda Unicorn 160 still looks identical to its predecessor. The Unicorn is an elegant commuter bike that feels very premium and it is available in multiple colour variants.
The Honda Unicorn is 2081 mm long, 756 mm wide, and 1103 mm tall. The motorcycle is quite approachable for both short and tall riders thanks to its 1335 mm wheelbase and 798 mm seat height. The motorcycle's enormous 187 mm ground clearance is more than sufficient to easily navigate speed bumps. It has a sizable gasoline tank with a 13 litre overall capacity. The 140 kg new Honda Unicorn 160 BS6 is heavy.
Summary
The new Honda Unicorn 160 is a very proportionate motorcycle and it offers great ground clearance. The bike is quite accessible for all sorts of riders and it has a big fuel tank.
The Honda Unicorn 160 is propelled by a 162.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that complies with BS6 standards. The Unicorn 150 was the name of the commuter motorcycle's BS4 variant, which had a 149.2cc engine. The upgraded BS6 motor produces 14 Nm of maximum torque at 5500 RPM and 12.7 bhp of maximum power at 7500 RPM. In addition to having Honda's Eco Technology (HET), the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission to provide superior performance and fuel efficiency. A new engine start/stop switch is now included with the motorcycle.
The Honda Unicorn 160 is a superb motorcycle in terms of performance. Given that it is a 160cc premium commuter, the bike performs significantly better than the typical 125cc bikes now on the market. The motorbike has a strong starting acceleration, and its power delivery is highly linear, which contributes to a relaxing riding experience. Additionally, the new Honda Unicorn 160 has excellent fuel efficiency. In actual riding situations, this high-end commuter bike achieves a mileage of 45 to 55 km per litre, which is excellent for a motorcycle in this class.
Summary
The new Honda Unicorn 160 offers great pick-up and very good performance. This premium commuter bike delivers good fuel economy too and is an ideal city bike.
Based on an improved diamond frame, the new Honda Unicorn 160 was created. The motorcycle has telescopic forks up front and a hydraulic mono-shock absorber in the back to handle suspension tasks. The riding quality of the Honda Unicorn 160 is incredibly pleasant and smooth. It effortlessly absorbs imperfections and rough road surfaces. At each end of the new Honda Unicorn 160, disc brakes handle the vehicle's stopping needs. The motorcycle has a 130 mm drum brake unit at the back and a 240 mm disc brake up front.
A single-channel ABS or anti-lock braking system is also included as standard equipment with the new Honda Unicorn 160 as an additional safety measure. The motorcycle has tubeless 18-inch tyres. The motorcycle's rear tyre, which is 18 inches in diameter, has a 100/90 section, and the front tyre is 80/100. The motorcycle gets HET tyres that offer low rolling resistance and are specially designed to increase fuel efficiency. The Honda Unicorn has analogue dials with blue backlighting in terms of features. The motorcycle is equipped with an analogue tachometer, fuel gauge, speedometer, and display for warning lights.
Summary
The new Honda Unicorn 160 packs in decent hardware and it is a very comfortable motorcycle. However, the motorcycle is not very feature-rich and it gets analogue dials for instrumentation that display basic trip-related information only.
