Variant Recommendation
TATA TIGOR is available in four variants with manual transmission. It also has two variants with automatic transmission. According to us, either XM or the XZ variant in manual transmission offers the best value for money proposition. If you are tight on budget and safety is concerned, then the base XE is the best pick. Upgrading to the XZ+ variant is not recommended as it is an expensive upgrade.
If you are planning to opt for the AMT transmission, then the XMA variant is the best pick for the price. Upgrading to the XZA variant is an expensive option and not a worthy upgrade.
Pros & Cons of Tata Tigor
Should I buy the Tigor?
The Tata Tigor is a car with strong characteristics, robustness, and an elegant charm. With great features, a good engine, and seating comfort, it is a compelling choice in the segment. Consumers' attraction towards its safety rating has brought in a lot of confidence for opting for safer cars. In case you are still not sure about Tigor, then we will recommend going for another option like Honda Amaze.
- The design language of the Tigor is appealing. With simple elements and a smiling face, it provides a feeling of happiness when first seen. The projector setup for the headlamps provides good illumination. The fog lamps have a subtle use of chrome that has sophisticated elegance.
- On the top-spec variant, it has 15” alloys. They enhance the ride quality compared to 14” wheels in lower trims. The minimal use of chrome on the door handles and the lower window line gives a sense of luxury to this sedan.
- The rear profile has an attractive design language. The design of the LED taillamps suits it well. There is a subtle chrome strip lower down that gives a premium finish to the rear. The loading lib is a bit on the higher side which results in putting luggage a difficult task.
- As we step inside the cabin of the Tigor, there’s a sense of robustness with solid build quality. The cabin is well put together with a simple layout of the dashboard.
- The cabin has cool features. These include automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, and a 7” touchscreen infotainment. Some more features like ventilated seats, and wireless charger could have been game changers
- The touch and feel of the materials are decent. The plastic quality can be improved in the upcoming updates. The 8-speaker sound system provides a rich experience inside the cabin for music enthusiasts.
- Coming to the core of the Tigor, it has a 3-cylinder petrol engine. This motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT.
- Talking about the power figures, it churns out about 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that we have seen in multiple TATA cars.
- The engine produces many vibrations. These vibrations are evident inside the cabin, resulting in a dull experience.
- When fuel efficiency is concerned, it would return about 14-16 Km/L depending on the driving style.
- As far as the seating comfort is concerned, it is undoubtedly a great space to be in. The front seats offer a plush experience with leather seats and there are no second thoughts about it.
- Coming to the rear seats, considering the space on offer it is a comfortable space to be in. It offers an ample amount of knee room and leg room. Since the cabin is not as wide as the competitor like Dzire, seating 3 people might be a tight fit. Even it misses on rear AC vents or charging ports that could have pampered the rear passengers.
