Pros & Cons of Tata Tigor EV
Should I buy the Tigor EV?
Tata Tigor EV is a great option in the segment if you are planning to get an EV sedan. It provides decent performance, great features, and the top safety standards in the option. It is a well-packed machine, offering a value-for-money deal. If you are still not convinced about it, then you may check out the other options.
- The Tigor EV gets the same design language as the regular ICE version. The only difference is that the blue accents used at multiple areas highlight that it is an EV.
- The front face is strong and the blue line connecting the headlights provides a subtle gesture of being an EV. The projector setup for the headlamps provides good illumination at night.
- Coming to the side profile of the Tigor EV, the 14” alloys with blue accents on them state that it is an EV. The alloy wheel size could have been improved to provide a better driving experience. The subtle use of chrome on the door handles and the window lining provides a sheer elegance to the EV sedan.
- Going to the rear profile, the taillamps are attractive with LED units. The subtle use of the chrome connecting the taillamps provides an aesthetically pleasing design. A blue strip lower down states that it is an EV again.
- Coming to the boot space, it is now reduced as compared to the ICE version. The regular ICE version has a boot space of 419L but in EV avatar, it is reduced by 100L.
Tigor EV body specifications:
Wheel Size | R14 |
Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
Ground Clearance | 172 mm |
Boot Space | 316 liters |
- When we step inside the cabin of the Tigor EV, it appeals as a pleasing place to be in. The dual-tone treatment of the dashboard with a floating style provides a subtle experience to the users.
- There are blue accents around the AC vents that make sure you are in an EV. The touch and feel of the materials are decent according to the price it is offered. We expected plastic quality could have been improved and there are some panel gaps present.
- Talking about the features that are offered, it gets an 8” Harman screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Along with that, it comes with automatic climate control which is a nice feature at the price. The fabric seat upholstery also has blue stitching which reminds me of driving an EV.
- The instrument cluster unit is the same as the sibling Tiago EV and earlier Nexon EVs used to offer. It provides plenty of information and in styling, it could have been a better one.
- The Tata Tigor EV comes equipped with a 29 kWh battery pack and has a single option only for the powertrain. This is mated to a PMSM motor that churns out 55 BHP and 170 Nm of peak torque.
- The power delivery is quite frugal and doesn’t feel lethargic. There is an ample range of 315 km claimed by the OEM but in real life, it will return near to 250 km on a single charger.
- There is a Sports mode as well if you wish to have a more punchy performance from the motor. This will result in a quick drop in range and increase the range of anxiety.
- The multi-mode regeneration braking helps to have a one-pedal drive system in the city traffic. This system helps to charge your battery upon braking and is very easy to adapt to city conditions.
- Tata has always been known for its safety standards offered in the lineup. The Tigor is a 4-star GLOBAL NCAP rated product and the EV version is based on the same platform.
- It comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, and EBD as standard across all lineups, and the door thud justifies the solid build quality.
- Coming to the seating comfort, the fabric upholstery provides the utmost comfort. The seat cushioning is done great and the cabin is wide enough. The rear seat can be a tight space for 3 healthy passengers but the seats provide very good comfort.Coming to the seating comfort, the fabric upholstery provides the utmost comfort. - The suspension of the Tigor EV is tuned on the softer side. Since it will mostly be used in city conditions, it will provide a sheer level of comfort to the passengers. On highways, there might be some bounciness that can be felt, but it maintains the comfort and line.

- SSunil2 Year ago5.0The Range depends on how one drives, as the AI Algorithm computes based on historic evidence of driving habit. Initially, the max range in the first three months of purchase turned out to be 164. It was frustrating. Later, as we made adjustments to driving an Electric Vehicle, as compared to an Automatic Petrol Car that my wife and I were used to, the range kept increasing, and now we were rewarded with a range of 311 Kms. As one drives more sensibly, power consumption has steadily come down from the high of 174 Wh/Km to 125 Wh/Km; which, on power charges in Delhi of Rs 8 per Unit, translates to Operating cost of Re 1/- per Km! We now take out our Ciaz AT ZXi+, not more than once a week.Likes (5)ReplyRead more
