Yamaha R7 Details

A teaser video has been fixed on the homepage of Yamaha India. This video shows the R7 and the MT-09 being ridden on Indian roads with registered TN plates. This possibly means that Yamaha has already homologated both of these models successfully in India.

Speaking of the R7, it has recently been updated globally with new colours for MY23. The R7 is a successor to the iconic Yamaha R6 sports bike. However, the R7 brought some utility-oriented changes to the R6 brand. It hosts a rather more comfortable riding triangle with a less aggressive approach. This means it is now more suited for road usage, unlike the R6. Additionally, the engine has also been redone.

Yamaha R7

The R6 was an inline-4-cylinder oriented for top-end performance on the track. However, the R7 comes with a road-usable 689cc, parallel-twin engine. It produces a peak power of 73 hp and 67 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the R7 has a linear torque curve and smooth power delivery. It has a 6-speed gearbox with a quick shifter and slipper-assist clutch. It also has the KYB preload USD forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear.

Yamaha offers the R7 with a fully digital instrument console like the R15 M. It also has various riding modes to make the rider feel more confident in various riding conditions. The traction control helps the rider to achieve more control on the bike over loose surfaces like slush and dirt. In India, its main rivals are - Honda CBR650R & Kawasaki Ninja 650.

Yamaha MT-09 Details

The MT-09 is a naked sports bike that was on sale in India for a short period. The introduction of BS6 emission norms led to its discontinuation in the domestic market. However, the new 2022 MT-09 has also been teased along with the R7. It comes with a distinctive look which can also be seen on its smaller siblings like the Yamaha MT-15.

It is equipped with an 890cc, inline-3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been tuned to make peak power of 118 hp and 93 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed transmission is also offered as standard with a slipper-assist clutch. The new MT-09 has been fitted with golden KYB USD forks at the front and a single monoshock suspension at the rear.

Yamaha MT-09

The new MY23 MT-09 comes with a long list of the latest technology. It has been equipped with a more efficient fuel delivery system, lightweight forged pistons, fracture-split connecting rods, offset and direct plated cylinder, & a new air intake system.

Feature-wise it has been equipped with the latest technology. It comes with ride-by-wire, cornering ABS, sensitive traction control, riding modes, lift control system, brake control system, & chip-based electronically controlled throttle system. In India, its main rivals are - Ducati Monster, Kawasaki Z900, & Triumph Street Triple.
