Hero Xpulse 200 4V Launched, Costs Rs 1.28 Lakh

Hero MotoCorp burnt its fingers with the Impulse back when it was launched around a decade ago. While the entry-level dual-sport motorcycle impressed with its capabilities, the market was simply not ripe enough for it. The Hero Xpulse 200, however, went on sale in February 2019 and quickly became a favourite of an increasing number of motorcycle enthusiasts that love riding off the beaten tarmac. Now, less than a couple of years since launch, the Hero Xpulse 200 has received a major update in the form of a 4-valve head.

The 2021 Hero Xpulse 200 4V has become the model in its manufacturers lineup to feature a four-valve engine. Priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom), the new motorcycle has gone on sale merely a couple of months after it was first seen testing on public roads. In comparison to the now-defunct 2-valve model, the updated version commands a premium of roughly Rs 5,000.

It is noteworthy that this is the second time the Xpulse 200 has received an updated motor. Earlier, the original engine was replaced with a BS6 unit that featured an oil-cooler to improve the refinement levels as well as the overall performance. And now, a little more than a year later, the 4-valve version has replaced the 2-valve OHC setup.

2021 Hero Xpulse 200 4V Specs

With the usage of a 4-valve head, the 199.6cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine benefits from more efficient combustion at higher RPMs, which is bound to improve the performance of the motor at high engine speeds. The Xpulse 200 4V is even a tad more powerful than its earlier iteration. The motorcycle now offers a maximum power of 19.1 PS and a peak torque of 17.35 Nm. In comparison, the 2-valve model offered 18.1 PS and 16.45 Nm. The 5-speed transmission has been carried over without any change but the motorcycle now offers new switchgear with an integrated engine kill switch. The motorcycle also receives an improved oil-cooling system.

Aesthetically, things have been left mostly untouched except for the introduction of the 4V sticker on the tank and provision of three new dual-tone paint schemes, viz - Trail Blue, Blitz Blue, and Red Raid. Also, the motorcycle benefits from a LED headlight thats 21 per cent brighter.
