1. Now More Powerful
The Force Gurkha 5 door and its smaller 3-doored sibling get the same engine but are now significantly more powerful than before. This unit is a Mercedes-sourced 2.6-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, boasting a significant around 50% jump in power output. This translates to a healthier 140 hP, compared to the previous model's 91 horsepower. Torque sees a commendable improvement as well, reaching 320 Nm, making the Gurkha more powerful than the Mahindra Thar's 2.2-liter diesel engine that churns out 132hp and 300 Nm.
2. More Features Inside The Cabin
The Gurkha's cabin retains its utilitarian layout but gets a tech boost. A new 9-inch infotainment touchscreen takes center stage with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual AC, and a 7-inch digital driver's display relays essential information at a glance, including a tire pressure monitoring system. Other features include a rear wiper, all power windows, and rear parking sensors with a camera. While features like remote locking and power windows enhance convenience, safety gets a basic foundation with ABS with EBD and dual front airbags as standard.
3. Bigger Footprint, Bigger Alloys
The Gurkha 5-door variant boasts a wheelbase stretched by 425mm compared to the 3-door model, accommodating the additional second-row. The overall length of the 5-door Gurkha grows by 425mm as well, and it sits 15mm taller than its 3-door counterpart. However, maneuverability takes a slight hit with the 5-door's 6.3m turning radius compared to the 3-door's 5.5m. Both variants receive an upgrade in the shoe department, sporting new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels in 255/65 R18 tyres, replacing the previous 16-inch wheels.

Verdict
The new 2024 Force Gurkha 5 Door is a much desired update, burning a lot of the shortcomings of the 3-door version. It is now more powerful, gets bigger alloys, and much needed feature boost, alhough just enough. The looks mean business and the other parameters too, and that is what makes it a perfect off-road choice for those who wander a lot more off the paved roads.
