Hyundai has voluntarily recalled the pre-facelift models of the Hyundai Creta 1.5-liter petrol engine with the iVT gearbox. The reason behind it is a potential error with the electronic oil pump controller that might affect the performance of the oil pump. The units manufactured between February 13, till June 6, 2023, make up the recalled subset. The company usually contacts the owners of the affected units, but if you own a pre-facelift Creta with the above-mentioned iVT with NA petrol engine, you can contact your nearest dealership to confirm this. You can also do this by checking your Vehicle Identification Number on this section of the official Hyundai website.

For those affected, Hyundai will rectify the affected part free of cost. Make sure you visit your nearest dealership when you are informed about the same. And for any query, you can take the initiative and see for yourself if you are in possession of an affected unit. Meanwhile, last month Kia also recalled the Seltos SUV units affected by the same issue.

For the extra grunt, you have the sole 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 160Ps power with a peak torque of 253 Nm. It comes with both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. On top of this, the DCT version brings paddle shifters completed with drive modes for a more commanding control over the SUV.

Verdict

The reason why you see so much of spy shots before the actual product hits showroom is for this same reason. While every new automobile goes through extensive and rigorous trials, some shortcomings only come to surface after the units are delivered to customers. While this is nothing new, how the brand owns upto this is what matters. And in this case, Hyundai is making sure to deliver an easy and responsible resolution to its customer base.
