Maruti Suzuki has been a testament to the fuel economy department of cars in India. This legacy is well-defined by the cars such as the Swift & Dzire. However, the coming times look more promising as the company is planning to introduce a strong hybrid in the 2023 Maruti Swift & Dzire. Read more details on it below.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Swift & Dzire Hybrid Details
As per our sources, Maruti is currently developing a strong hybrid system to introduce the Siwft & Dzire. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has become a huge success due to its hybrid system alone. Hence, the utility of such a system on smaller & lighter cars like Swift will yield more. The current Swift & Dzire are due for an update. It is speculated that the new gen of these will debut sometime in 2023. However, in spite of making these cars lighter, Maruti will use the strong hybrid for more fuel economy.
It is also being reported that with the addition of the strong hybrid, Swift & Dzire will be able to achieve jaw-dropping fuel economy figures. These figures can be as high as 35+ kmpl. Yes, you read it right. All thanks to the lightweight heartect platform & the small dimensions of these cars. The inclusion of a strong hybrid will lead to more efficiency. As per the company, these models are used mainly in and around the city. Hence, a strong hybrid will result in more drivability via EV mode thus saving fuel.
The rising costs of fuel and the strict emission bans like the NGT rule in Delhi-NCR are pushing the customers more and more towards petrol cars. However, a strong hybrid leads to diesel-like fuel savings. An additional benefit is the longevity of the car with less NVH & more comfort. However, we suspect that it won't be anytime before 2024 that these cars are launched in India. But, once launched, the Swift & Dzire will possibly become the most fuel-efficient cars in India. Also, Maruti will continue selling the petrol & CNG variants of the 2023 Maruti Swift & Dzire.
Verdict
If Maruti introduces a strong hybrid option, it will be a sales banger. However, the pricing of the hybrid variants will be on the higher side. Seems like Maruti is planning to remain the king of the hatchback segment. With rivals like Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS & Tata Tiago trying their best to beat Maruti; the upcoming gen of Swift & Dzire will dismiss their efforts strongly.
