What is Engine Decarbonisation - Is It Essential For Your Car?

We all want our vehicles to be in perfect working condition, just the way we love our bodies to be hale and hearty. Thus, as we opt for plenty of diets, medicines, and cosmetic surgeries to stay fit and fine, a vehicle's engine also requires proper care, preventive maintenance, and some procedures to ensure its good health and maximum performance. One of such ways that claim the maximum performance of your vehicle is engine decarbonisation. So, today in this article, we will tell you what is engine decarbonisation and is it essential for your car?

What is Engine Decarbonisation?

In this process, an experienced mechanic mechanically removes the excessive carbon deposits on the cylinder head, and then physically scraps out the carbon deposits from the combustion chamber and piston valves. There are two types of engine decarbonisation - mechanical and chemical:

Mechanical: In this process, a well-trained mechanic first opens the engine, and then physically scraps off the cylinder heads and block the piston. Mechanical decarbonisation is highly successful when done by a competent mechanic. But it can be terrible for the engine if done by an incompetent person.

Chemical: In this method, an expert adds alcohols and terpenes to the conventional fuel supply, which breaks down the carbon deposits. Then this chemical compound and the exhaust gases are flushed out. This process results in dissolving the excessive carbon content from the fuel injectors, pistons, crown rings, and other parts of the engine.

Cause of carbon deposits in engines:

When an engine of the bike or automobile burns its fuel, it releases by-products of carbon, fumes and smoke in huge amounts. This waste is built-up on the tube of the engine restricting the airflow and causing various other problems.

Problems caused by carbon deposits in engines:

  •   The engine stops running smoothly.
  • The machinability of the vehicle is reduced.
  • The bike or automobile starts vibrating robustly and leaping repeatedly.
  • The vehicles start jerking and shaking off the engine is instigated.

Benefits of engine decarbonisation:

  • It cleans out the engine thoroughly.
  • It decarbonises all the integral components of the engine from the inside out.
  • It enhances an engines performance.
  • It reduces the engines vibration and noise.
  • It restores the engines fuel efficiency.

Why is engine decarbonisation essential?

  • Decarbonisation is essential for the maintenance of any vehicles that run on engines.
  • Decarbonisation is needed to ensure an engines optimal functioning and effective working condition.
  • Decarbonisation also ensures the safe and smooth running of vehicles.
  • Decarbonisation improves the engines effectiveness and keeps the vehicle in an overall good condition.
