No, there is no compulsion to purchase insurance from the dealership. When you purchase a vehicle from any dealership, they register the vehicle. When your vehicle is registered, a registration number is issued by RTO for you vehicle. But to register your vehicle, you need all the valid documents including an insurance policy of your vehicle which has to be submitted in RTO. It may take several days for registration. To avoid inconvinence and consume your time, it is better if dealership executive will get the registration done for you including validation of other documents like insurance policy.
