Skoda Kushaq Facelift Exterior Design: Cleaner, Sharper & More Premium

Skoda Kushaq Facelift

The updated Skoda Kushaq adopts Skoda's latest 'Modern Solid' design philosophy, which lends the SUV a more contemporary and premium appearance. Up front, slimmer LED headlamps with eyebrow-style DRLs sit on either side of a reworked grille that now integrates a segmented light bar, a design cue shared with Skoda's larger global models. The bumper has also been redesigned with sharper contours and a more angular silver skid plate that adds visual muscle.

Along the sides, changes are subtle, limited mainly to new alloy wheel designs ranging between 16 and 17 inches depending on the trim. At the rear, however, the facelift makes a stronger statement with a connected LED tail-lamp setup featuring sequential indicators and illuminated 'SKODA' lettering, giving the SUV a more modern night-time signature. Skoda has also refreshed the colour palette, adding Cherry Red, Shimla Green and Steel Grey to the existing range.

Interior: Familiar Layout, Noticeable Upgrades

Step inside, and the overall dashboard layout will feel familiar to existing Kushaq owners, but the updates are immediately noticeable. The cabin now feels more premium, especially in the Prestige trim that gets a black-and-beige theme, while the Monte Carlo variants retain a more aggressive red-accented interior.

The biggest upgrade is the new 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, paired with a slightly larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features a cleaner interface. Dual-colour ambient lighting adds a subtle premium touch, but the headline feature is undoubtedly the addition of a panoramic sunroof, a long-standing omission finally addressed, making the cabin feel brighter and airier.

Features & Technology: Segment-First Touches

The facelifted Kushaq raises the bar on features. It becomes the first in its segment to offer a rear-seat massage function, a surprising but welcome addition. Front occupants benefit from 6-way powered seats with ventilation, while convenience features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, front parking sensors and automatic climate control are now part of the package. Skoda has also integrated Google Gemini AI into the infotainment system, enabling voice-based access to real-time information and hands-free control of various vehicle functions. However, it still misses out on ADAS, which was expected with this update.

Powertrains: Smarter Automatics & Better Braking

Under the hood, the Kushaq facelift continues with the familiar 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. The biggest mechanical update is the introduction of a new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0 TSI motor, replacing the older 6-speed unit. A 6-speed manual remains available for buyers who prefer it. The more powerful 1.5-litre TSI continues with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, but now finally gains rear disc brakes, a much-requested update that enhances braking performance and overall confidence.

Verdict

The 2026 Skoda Kushaq facelift doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to. By addressing key shortcomings, especially in features, cabin ambience and drivetrain refinement, Skoda has delivered a more complete and premium midsize SUV. The addition of a panoramic sunroof, new automatic gearbox and enhanced tech ensures the Kushaq remains relevant against newer rivals, while its strong safety credentials and solid engines continue to be major selling points.
