Mahindra surprised everyone a few months ago with the launch of the BE 6 Batman Edition, a bold, dramatic take on its Born Electric SUV. And now, they've followed it up with yet another special version: the BE 6 Formula E Edition. Inspired by Mahindra's global racing programme, this new edition brings a sportier, track-influenced personality to the BE 6. So how different is it from the regular model, and what exactly does the Formula E Edition add to the package? Let's break it down. Design

The first and most noticeable difference is the way both SUVs look. The regular Mahindra BE 6 already has a bold, futuristic design, but the Formula E Edition takes things a step further with a sportier and racier attitude. It gets revised front and rear bumpers, a new brushed-aluminium faux skid plate, a boot-integrated rear spoiler, fresh headlamps, and exclusive Formula E-inspired graphics. Mahindra has also added hood stripes, wheel stripes, orange tow hooks, red brake callipers and orange accents on the running boards to complete the racier look.

At the back, a special Formula E badge makes sure everyone knows this is a special edition. Buyers can also choose from four sportier paint options: Tango Red, Firestorm Orange, Everest White, and Stealth Black, making the Formule E Edition instantly more striking than the clean and minimalist standard BE 6. Notably, this new edition rides on 20-inch wheels while the regular BE 6 comes with 19-inch wheels.

Interiors and Features

Inside, the regular BE 6 keeps things clean and premium, while the Formula E Edition goes all-in on a sportier, more expressive theme. You get bold orange inserts, dual-tone seats with BE 6 Formula E embossing, orange stitching and even Formula E-branded seatbelts, details missing in the standard model. Exclusive touches like the FIA-branded centre plaque, a rugged flip-up cover for the start/stop button, carbon-fibre-style panels and translucent door inserts further separate it from the regular BE 6. Even the sunroof gets a unique striped pattern.

Feature-wise, both versions share the same equipment: dual 12.3-inch screens, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and a 360-degree camera. Safety features are also identical, with six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS, parking sensors and basic ADAS including blind-spot monitoring and driver drowsiness alert.

Powertrain

The Mahindra BE 6 comes with two battery pack options: 59kWh and 79kWh. But on the other hand, the Formula E Edition comes only equipped with the bigger 79kWh battery pack for obvious reasons. When paired up with a motor, this gives out 285ps and 380 Nm of torque. It also retains the same claimed range of 682 km and supports 180 kW DC fast charging, just like the standard model.
Pricing And Variants
The regular Mahindra BE 6 comes at a starting price tag of Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 27.65 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top spec. Notably, it is available in five different variants: Pack One, Pack One Above, Pack Two, Pack Three Select and Pack Three. On the other hand, the BE 6 Formula E Edition offers only two variants: FE2 and FE3, priced at Rs 23.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Verdict
The BE 6 Formula E Edition isn't just a cosmetic upgrade; it's a more expressive, motorsport-inspired take on Mahindra's Born Electric SUV. Where the standard BE 6 focuses on clean, futuristic styling, the Formula E Edition adds personality, colour and racing flair inside and out. The core features and performance remain familiar, but the special design elements, exclusive interior details and limited variant lineup make it feel more premium and more distinctive on the road. For buyers who want the BE 6 with more attitude and exclusivity, the Formula E Edition delivers exactly that without altering the SUV's proven electric foundation.
