Benelli 300cc engines will be replaced by a big 400cc parallel-twin motor internationally. The new big engine can also come to India in future. Read details.
The latest reports shared on a global level suggest that the Benelli 300cc engines will soon be replaced by a bigger 400cc motor. As China-based Qianjian Group is the parent company of Benelli; it is reported that the first upliftment will take place in China itself.
Benelli supplies the Chinese police department with their BJ400J custom bike made for special ops. In the new approval-type documents, it has surfaced that the new BJ400J will now be powered by a 400cc parallel-twin engine. Earlier, this motorcycle was using a 300cc parallel-twin engine which is also seen over the Benelli 302R.

This new engine, as anticipated, is a bigger block development of the 300cc motor. The now more powerful 400cc engine uses a parallel-twin combination, thus, bumping up the power from earlier 37.5 Hp to 45 Hp now. This means that the new engine has been developed to overtake the 300cc line up from Benelli which includes the likes of 302S and 302R mid-level premium motorcycles.
Anticipation also indicates that the new engine will also find its way down to the Indian market later. This will be fruitful for Benelli in India specifically, as the competition now offers more power and performance. The bump up in engine displacement will capable Benelli to fight with higher segment bikes and also counter the strict emission norms simultaneously.
In India, Benelli already offers the TRK 502 which almost falls into the same category of engine displacement. While the 302R is expected to go on sale in India soon, the competition is already on a strong front. Rivals like the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 are well equipped and now with the updates coming soon such as the 2022 KTM RC 390; Benelli might consider revising the 302R's spec sheets to remain relevant in the domestic market.
