VinFast VF 6

VinFast VF6

VinFast has recently entered the Indian market with VF6 as its entry-level product. Not just this, the VF 6 is the only electric car under Rs 20 lakh, which offers the biggest 59.6 kWh battery pack. Moreover, the pricing starts at Rs 16.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 18.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, this 59.6 kWh offers a claimed range of 463 Km within a single charge. Notably, it can juice up from 10% to 70% in just 25 minutes. However, VinFast VF 6 offers the biggest battery packs in the segment, if you're considering under Rs 20 lakh.

Mahindra BE 6

Mahindra's BE 6 has been in quite a buzz since its launch last year. It is available at the starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it comes with two pack options but here we will consider the 59kWh battery packs that come under Rs 20 lakh. It gives out a claimed range of 557 km within a single charge. Meanwhile, this battery pack can juice up from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes with a DC fast charger. Moreover, when paired up with a motor, these battery packs belt out 231 PS and 380 Nm of torque.

Tata Curvv EV

The Curvv EV is the electric version of Tata's coupe-style SUV. However, it comes equipped with two battery pack options: 45 kWh and 55 kWh. But here we'll only consider the bigger one that comes at a price tag of Rs 19.25 lakh (ex-showroom). This 55 kWh battery gives out a claimed range of 502 km within a single charge. Notably, it can charge from 10-80% in just 40 minutes with a DC fast charger. Power figures remain at 167 PS and 215 Nm of torque. Tata claims that it can 0-100km/h sprint in 8.6 seconds.

MG Windsor EV

MG's Windsor EV is a strong contender in the segment with being feature-loaded and the most value for money EV. Though this also comes with two battery packs, but here we'll only talk about the bigger one, 52.9 kWh. This battery is only offered with two variants: Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro, priced at Rs 14.74 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 15.81 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Most importantly, it can run up to 449 km on a single charge. When it comes to charging, it can juice from 20-80% in just 50 minutes with a DC fast charger.

MG ZS EV

The MG ZS EV has already made its name in the mainstream EVs in India; it has been in the market for quite a long time now. However, this one remains very sorted with just one 50.3 kWh battery pack on offer. Meanwhile, MG claims this can go up to 461 km in a single charge. When it comes to charging, it can juice up from 0-80% in just 60 minutes with a fast charger. Moreover, when paired with a motor, it produces 176.75 PS and 280 nm of torque. With just one battery pack, it comes in four variants: Executive, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus and Essence. However, the pricing starts at Rs 15.50 (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

For buyers under Rs 20 lakh, EVs with bigger battery packs are finally becoming a reality, offering not just extended range but also faster charging solutions. Leading the pack are the VinFast VF6 (59.6 kWh) and Mahindra BE 6 (59 kWh), while the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, and MG ZS EV strike the right balance of practicality, performance, and price.
