2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Design & Features
There are no official details about the upcoming SUV, but, we expect the new car to be based on the 2022 Mercedes C-Class sedan platform. The new C-class was recently launched in India & it uses the MRA (Modular Read Architecture) platform for the chassis design.
The use of the MRA platform means the new GLC is going to be 60mm longer with 15mm more wheelbase length as compared to the current-gen GLC. This will help achieve more rear legroom space along with more boot space. Also, there will be the addition of some segment-first features such as Level 3 Autonomous Driver Assist System (ADAS). These features shall set the GLC apart from the segment rivals.
As the new GLC will be based on the current C-class, we also anticipate the interiors to be based on it too. The current C-class retains the interior styling of the flagship limousine Mercedes S-Class. Hence, we can expect some design cues to be carried forward from the S-Class as well. As the chassis is deemed to be based in the C-class, we also expect that Mercedes shall aid the suspension with air-assist type.

Engine & Specifications
The main change that the new car will bring is the introduction of mild-hybrid tech. This tech will come in all of the engine and powertrain options to be offered at the time of launch. Internationally, Mercedes sells 4 different engines with the GLC SUV. These include two petrol and two diesel options.
The petrol engine includes the GLC 200 & GLC 300 variants that use a 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol setup. While the diesel iterations include the GLC 300d & a sportier variant (probably the AMG-line) GLC 400d. While the first one uses a 4-cylinder engine, the latter is associated with an inline-six-cylinder engine.
Also, in the typical sports fashion, Mercedes GLC 43 AMG and GLC 63 AMG will mark their way along with the launch of the new-gen car. It is widely anticipated that the GLC 63 will use the same powertrain options as seen over the current C-class & might produce 506 hp of peak power. Mercedes will launch the new GLC in both rear-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive options.
2023 Mercedes GLC Launch & Rivals
According to the rumors over the internet, the new GLC might make it to the launch by the first half of 2023. This means that the new-gen GLC will be in the production phase by the end of this year; if the rumors are true. Well, with the official global debut on June 1, a lot of the rumors will wash down.
Currently, Mercedes sells the GLC in India between a price range of Rs 61-66.90 lakhs ex-showroom. The main rivals remain the Audi Q5, BMW X3, & Volvo XC60.
