The BMW AG, or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a renowned German auto manufacturer founded in 1916. Based in Munich, Germany, BMW is famous for its A-Class luxury cars and motorbikes. The company&#39;s history&nbsp;traces back to the establishment of Rapp-MotorenWerke by German engine maker Karl Rapp, initially focused on aircraft engines. Eventually, Austrians Max Friz and Franz Josef Popp, with financial support from Camillo Castiglioni, took over and renamed it Bayerische Motoren Werke, giving rise to BMW. The BMW logo draws inspiration from the rotating propeller of an airplane engine.&nbsp; 
BMW has earned a prestigious status in the automotive industry, being considered one of the greatest car manufacturers in history. BMW AG is also the parent company of Rolls Royce Motor Cars and owns Mini. The brand&#39;s motorcycle division is known as BMW Motorrad. Among luxury car manufacturers, BMW ranks among the top three, alongside Mercedes-Benz and Audi AG. BMW&#39;s product lineup is categorized into &#39;Series,&#39; each represented by a single-digit number, denoting specific models and their variants. In 2004, BMW adopted an approach where odd-numbered series are used for saloons, sedans, and estate touring models, while even-numbered series are assigned to double-door coupes and cabriolets. 
BMW commenced its operations in India in 2006. The company established a sales subsidiary in Gurgaon, part of the National Capital Region, and in 2007, they set up an assembly plant in Chennai, a city located in the southern part of India. Initially, the Chennai assembly plant focused on assembling the BMW 3 and 5 series models. By 2014, the plant had expanded its portfolio to include manufacturing the BMW 7 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW X3, BMW X1, as well as the Mini Countryman, Mini Cooper D, and Mini Cooper S.

Current State :&nbsp;In today&#39;s time, the BMW cars portfolio has a diverse portfolio with a total of 19 vehicles spanning the sedan, sports, and the SUV segments. Starting off with the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, followed by the 3 series line-up that offers M340i and the 3 Series Gran Limousine. Climbing up the ladder, the catalog has the 5-series sedan, 6-Series Gran Turismo, and the 7-Series sedan.The M-Performance range gets a host of vehicles with the inclusion of M2 Coupe, Z4 M40i, X3 M40i, XM, M8 Competition Coupe, and the M4 Competition Coupe. While these were mostly sedan and sports cars, the SUV range comes with the BMW X1, BMW X5, and the BMW X7. Moving over to the EV range, BMW currently offers 3 products namely BMW iX, i4, and the i7 range.

Price Range :&nbsp;Since the brand sits at the higher end of the market as a premium luxury, the price range is on the rich side. The range starts at Rs. 45.5 lakhs for the 2-Series sedan and moving up to the 3-Series, the M340i and 3-Series Gran Limousine starts at Rs.71.5 lakhs and Rs. 60.06 lakhs respectively. Moving up the hierarchy, 5-Series and the 6-Series sedans start at Rs. 69 lakhs and Rs. 72.5 lakhs respectively.The flagship luxury BMW 7-Series takes it towards the higher end of the spectrum with a 1.7 crore rupees ex-showroom price tag.&nbsp; 
The performance oriented M-Performance range is the driver&rsquo;s delight and does not shy away from asking for its value in monetary terms. It touched every segment of the portfolio, from sedans all the way to the EV SUVs. The M range starts from M340i at Rs. 71.5 lakhs all the way up to Rs. 2.6 cores for the BMW XM Plug-in Hybrid SUV. Moving over to the SUV range, it begins the journey at Rs. 45.9 lakhs for the X1 and gradually moves upwards from here. Next in line are the X3, X5, and the luxury, celebrity favorite the BMW X7 with a starting point of Rs.68.5 lakhs, Rs. 95.2, and Rs. 1.2 crore respectively.&nbsp; 
Talking about the EVs, they sit at the top table position as far as the pricing is concerned. The 3 EVs on offer are the iX, i4, and the i7 with prices starting from Rs. 1.21 crores, Rs 72.5 lakhs and Rs. 1.95 crores respectively.

New Cars :&nbsp;The latest launch from BMW is the 2023 BMW X5 facelift at Rs. 93.90 lakhs ex-showroom price. This SUV offers a host of high-end features like 4-zone climate control, drive assist features, and much more. The engine here is a 3-liter petrol and a 3-liter diesel unit churning out 381 hp/ 520 Nm and 286hp/620 Nm respectively. Before this, the BMW M2 was introduced at Rs. 98 lakhs ex-showroom price that comes with a 3-liter turbo petrol unit that puts out 453hp and 550 Nm of torque.

Upcoming Cars :&nbsp;Just recently, BMW has teased the BMW iX1, its next electric SUV, which is just the electric version of the popular X1 SUV.The iX1 packs a punch with a 64.7kWh battery and dual electric motors. It boasts 313bhp, 494 Nm of torque, and a quick 5.3s 0-100mph time. It was unveiled globally last year and is now gearing up for an Indian launch.
