Should I buy the 5-Series?
If you want a comfortable luxury sedan with a refined and torquey engine, good features, and a comfortable ride quality, the BMW 5 Series LWB should be in your consideration. However, if you prefer a chauffeur-driven experience, it might turn off in terms of rear seat features, but it will not compromise in terms of comfort. Also, the design is a bit subjective but that’s not a make or break point of the sedan. Ultimately the 5 Series LWB is a strong rival in its segment offering a luxurious cabin and a powerful engine.
-
The newly launched BMW 5 Series LWB is based on 2.5 Box Design. It features signature BMW styling with a stretched kidney grille with illuminated surrounds, vertically stacked LED DRL giving the BMW four-eye face fascia to the front, and BMW adaptive LED headlamps. The side profile gets a sharp shoulder line that runs across the sedan's length and blends with the tail lamp. The sedan boasts many sharp lines to give it an athletic appeal. The rear gets sleek L-shaped LED tail lamps.
-
It also gets additional design elements to justify its M Sport badge. It comes with flared side skirts, more prominent air intakes at the front, and an integrated diffuser on the rear bumper. The sedan comes with 18-inch alloy wheels but the customers can also opt for the 19-inch wheels as an optional accessory.
-
If we talk about the dimensions, the 5-series LWB measures 5,165 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width, and 1,518 mm in height. The sedan boasts a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.
5-Series body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R18 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 158 mm |

-
Owing to the long-wheelbase the BMW 5 Series offers immense room on the inside. The front seats are well-cushioned and offer a cocooned experience. The front seats are electrically adjustable and offer seat ventilation as well.
-
The rear seats are even more comfortable with its good recline angle, good cushioning, and large area. The rear row offers good knee room and headroom. However, the rear row is strictly for two adults, the middle is equipped with a big folding armrest.
-
The cabin offers a good and roomy ambiance thanks to the large panoramic roof. The colour theme used inside the cabin makes it airy and the minimalist dashboard looks good too. The interior takes some inspiration from the bigger 7 Series and boasts some crystal effects on several parts. The cabin also gets multi-colour ambient lighting.
-
On the features front, the 5 Series gets a large curved screen consisting of a 14.9-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, four-zone climate control among other features. Moreover, it misses some feel-good features for the rear-row passengers.
-
The 5 Series LWB comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 254 bhp of power and 400 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 48-volt mid-hybrid system which offers a boost function as well. The engine is torquey and offers a smooth performance. It responds well to your accelerator input and offers you with good power and torque delivery. It comes with multiple driving modes which change the way of engine performance, gearbox performance, and the overall driving experience. Put it in sport mode and you can get the exhilarated performance you need. It is not shy to reach and cruise at triple-digit speeds.
-
The engine is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission which offers smooth gearshifts and makes the driving experience more pleasurable. It delivers quick shifts and with the paddle shifters, it responds well with every pull.
5-Series engine specifications:

| Mileage | 15.7 |
| Engine | 1998 cc |
| Power | 255 bhp @ 4500 rpm |
| Torque | 400 Nm @ 1600 rpm |

- The new 5 Series has seen a lot of improvement in the ride quality, it now boasts a well-tuned suspension setup. The damping is done well and it helps the 5 Series to absorb almost all the bumps and undulations of the road. It glides over small potholes and breakers effortlessly and offers a comfortable ride quality. Moreover, you need to be careful at tall speed bumps which might scrape the car, especially with a full load.
