Should I buy the Virtus?
The Volkswagen Virtus has to be the most performance-oriented sedan in its class, and its turbo petrol engine is an absolute beast paired with the DSG gearbox. So, if you’re someone who wants a family sedan that doesn’t disappoint on the driving fun, you should definitely check it out. The Skoda Slavia also shares a similar set-up and can be considered if you’re looking for something different. However, if you want something other than these Germans, then the Hyundai Verna 1.5 turbo is an equally good option with similar performance.
The Virtus has exteriors that are pretty much in the line with the Volkswagen sedans sold across the globe. The front end with its slim grille and LED headlamps is a throwback to the Jetta that was sold some time ago. The sides too carry on with a clean look and are flanked by 16-inch alloy wheels which might look a size small for a car of this size. The rear too has a premium look with the Audi-styled LED tail-lamps that have been blacked out. All in all, if you want to pick the aesthetically pleasing and performance oriented model then the GT model should be your pick
Summary
Clean and elegant design that will age nicely like other VW products
Interiors of the Virtus are very similar to that of its SUV sibling – the Taigun. This is evident in the overall dashboard design. Just like the Taigun, the interior is dominated by a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a digital cockpit display for the driver. Leather seats are available in the top trims of the Virtus which are ventilated. All these nifty features make the car decently loaded as per the segment. It continues with dual-tone interior in the 1.0L TSI model while the 1.5L TSI gets all-black cabin layout with contrast colour on the dashboard
Summary
Features are on par with the segment. Nothing that will leave you wanting for more.
The Virtus has a McPherson strut suspension up front and a twist-beam rear axle. It has 16-inch rims with 205/55 R16 tyres. The ride quality of the Virtus is adequate under most driving conditions. At low speeds on rough roads, the absorbent nature of the suspension will keep you comfortable. Body movement is well controlled, and the suspension easily absorbs minor potholes. However, large potholes are noticeable in the cabin.
The Virtus has excellent driving habits. When cruising at speeds of 100-120 km/h, the straight-line stability is excellent, and the car feels extremely steady. Long road trips should be reasonably comfortable in this sedan. It will also not let you down on twisty roads. The light front end makes cornering easy. There is some body roll, but it is well controlled and does not feel excessive even when pushing the car hard. You can carry more speed into corners as a result of this. Although there is a hint of understeer, the Virtus maintains its line admirably. Overall, the Virtus is good in ride and handling!
Summary
Suspension is a nice blend of comfort and fun. Makes the Virtus remain true to VW’s core attributes.
The Virtus has two turbo-petrol engines: a 115 PS, 1.0 TSI with 6-speed MT and AT transmissions, and a 150 PS, 1.5 TSI with a 7-speed DSG. The trim lines were created by Volkswagen based on the engines available. 'Dynamic Line' offers the 1.0 TSI, while 'Performance Line' offers the 1.5 TSI. Both engines are excellent all-around choices for those who want a nice mix of power and efficiency. If you are looking to drive in a spirited manner and you're looking for a car in a budget then you should pick the 6-speed manual
Summary
Both the engines are very punchy. The 1.5 TSI probably the fastest in its segment.
Six airbags, ESC, ABS, a multi-collision brake, brake disc wiping, tyre pressure deflation warning, hill hold control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors are among the safety features available on the Volkswagen Virtus. Rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, automatic headlamps, and automatic wipers are also included. Also, the sedan has been credited with 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash test safety ratings.
Summary
The Virtus is loaded with a host of Safety features along with a 5-star GNCAP crash safety rating.

Volkswagen has discontinued the manual gearbox option for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol variants of the Volkswagen Virtus and Volkswagen Taigun in India. The more powerful engine is now available only with a 7-speed DSG automatic, while manual buyers are limited to the smaller 1.0-litre TSI variants.

The shade is available exclusively on the GT Line trims with blacked-out styling elements, while the mechanical setup and pricing remain unchanged.
Skoda and Volkswagen have issued a recall for models like the Skoda Kylaq, Volkswagen Virtus, and Taigun in India due to a faulty rear seatbelt component. The issue relates to a potential defect in the seatbelt assembly, which could compromise occupant safety, and affected units will have the faulty parts replaced free of cost.
Volkswagen has introduced new Highline Plus variants for the Volkswagen Virtus, enhancing the mid-spec lineup with added features and better value. These variants bring upgrades like wireless connectivity, and additional comfort features, while continuing with the same 1.0-litre TSI engine and overall mechanical setup.
