KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • 18 Inch alloys felt dwarfed on this massive car
  • 530Li ex-showroom price is Rs 74.40 lakh

BMW 5 Series (G60) launched in 2024, had received a change which resolves a major styling trait everyone had about this mid-size sedan. The 18-inch light alloy wheels felt dwarfed on this long wheelbase car and disturbed the overall aesthetics. Almost every person had an issue with these, as the 18-inch appeared so small. Although the 19-inch M Sport alloys were there - but available optionally. Now, the news has arrived that BMW has made these bigger alloys standard, which means they have listened to the feedback of customers. BMW 5 Series - (G60)

BMW 5 Series

BMW 5 Series, currently in its 8th generation, is only available in one variant - the 530Li M Sport, with a standard long wheelbase. This car, launched in 2024, has been well-accepted by Indians and has shown positive numbers on sales graphs. The performance, luxury quotient, and its design received a big thumbs up. However, the 18-inch alloys appeared like chicken legs on its massive body. Even when you look at it on BMW.in or in person, this trait didn't sit well with most.

Now, BMW has reflected on this customer feedback and changed the wheel setup. The 5 Series will now come with 19-inch alloys as standard, which the company calls "Bicolour Midnight Grey." The profile of these wheels will be 245/45 R19. They fit perfectly with its long body and look stupendous. Moreover, this sedan competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6.

To add more, the heart of this beast is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine, producing 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The result of this power? It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. Lastly, the price of this car is Rs 74.40 lakh (ex-showroom), and there are only two paint options to choose from - Carbon Black and Sparkling Copper Grey Metallic.

Verdict

The BMW 5 Series, one of the most beloved and desirable cars on the planet, has always set new standards in driving dynamics, features, and appeal. That said, the current generation stands out as the most unique, as it no longer offers a diesel engine option or even a 3.0L inline-6 engine. To compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW introduced a long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the 5 Series. However, this decision didn't sit well with many enthusiasts, who were hoping for the classic body style and more powerful engine options. Clearly, the target audience has shifted, and not everyone is on board with this change.
