Original Article - December 25, 2019 - Nowadays, we see most cars coming with keyless entry and a start-stop function. It may seem fancy and useful to some, it sure has its drawbacks. What if the battery of the key fob drains out and you need a manual start? Or if the battery of the car is out then you might not be able to enter with the keyless!



Well, to answer your question as to how to get inside the car
and start it, we explain this situation with an example of BMW. Like how to
turn the ignition of the BMW if the keyfob isn't working! Here is a step by
step guide to answer all your queries:



Step 1: Remove the metal blade from the BMW key fob. You can find it on the other side of the buttons.

Step 2: Now, the next step is to get inside the vehicle and
with that metal piece, unlock the driver side door of the vehicle.



Step 3: Place the key in the ignition slot. Now, if your BMW
is deprived of the slot then place the keyfob next to the right of the steering
column. You may find the key figure in the steering column.



Step 4: Press the brake pedal and push the start/stop button. If your vehicle has a manual gearbox then press the clutch and then press the button.

With petrol prices going up every day and with increasing traffic jams on the roads, the running costs of petrol cars are increasing at a brisk rate. In addition to this, the air pollution levels are also touching new highs with each passing day. All these conditions have led to an increase in the demand of CNG powered vehicles as CNG is not just a cleaner fuel but costs way less than petrol. While we do have many companies that offer CNG powered cars with a manual transmission, no company offers an automatic CNG car.

In such cases, we can get a CNG kit retrofitted from outside. There are three types of CNG kits available in the market - open-loop, closed-loop, and sequential kit. While it is the open-loop kit that works out to be the cheapest, we recommend you to go with a sequential kit as it is safest and gives the best performance amongst the three. Update - 19/04/2020 - The new prices of the Kia Sonet range from Rs 6.79 lakh and the top model fetches Rs 13.20 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The carmaker has also discontinued the HTK Plus 1.0L DCT and HTK Plus 1.5L Diesel AT. 



Kia Motors India has steamrolled its competition and people already had the trust in KIA. Being a sister brand of Hyundai, buyers didn't have a second thought for the purchase - at least for the ownership experience and service costs. We earlier explained the service costs of Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival and now its time for the Sonet. Kia offers the Sonet with four engine options - 1.5-litre diesel WGT, 1.5-litre diesel VGT, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.2-litre petrol engine. We explain to you the service cost of all the engines offered with the Kia Sonet.

Kia Sonet comes with two petrol engine options - 1.2-litre NA petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. While the 1.2-litre is only available with a 5-speed manual in lower trims only, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol is offered in top trims with either a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT. The service costs mentioned are indicative and expect to change with additional wear and tear. The above service costs also include the cost of wheel alignment and balancing which will be done at Kia's official service dealership. As Kia uses an iMT in place of the normal 6-speed manual transmission, it needs the iMT fluid at regular intervals but it would just cost Rs 56 per top-up.



<h4>Kia Sonet diesel Service Cost </h4>



Kia Sonet is offered with the most fuel-efficient diesel engine in its class. The powerhouse is a 1.5-litre diesel engine which is sold in two tunes - 100PS (WGT) and 115PS (VGT). The 1.5 VGT produces 115PS and 250 Nm of torque, mated with the 6-speed automatic only. The 1.5 WGT produces 100PS and 240 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only. The service costs mentioned above are again indicative and expect to change with any additional wear and tear. The wheel alignment costs are included in the cost chart which is scheduled to happen every 10,000 km. The service cost of the Sonet is very affordable and the diesel engine is not expensive to maintain either. The basic servicing includes air filter and engine oil replacement whereas the brake and clutch fluid and fuel filter are changed every 30,000 km and 40,000 km respectively.

So when it comes to both the cars, the diesel manual variants are more or less on even keel. However, unlike the Harrier, the Jeep Compass facelift comes with not only a petrol engine that gets manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox options but also gets a 9-speed automatic unit with diesel engine unlike the 6-speed Hyundai-sourced automatic unit present on the Harrier. So in terms of the powertrain choices offered, the Compass is ahead of the Harrier by a fair margin

Going by the dimensions, the Harrier is substantially bigger than the Compass. The longer wheelbase of the Harrier means that it not only has more space on the inside, but the overall larger dimensions mean that the Harrier also ends up having better road presence than the Compass.



3. Interiors and Features - The Compass with its updated interior now feels a lot more premium and upmarket. It would be fair to say that the interiors look and feel like they from a segment above. It now gets a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which now gets equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a wireless format. The top of tine variant now gets integrated Alexa support, connected car technology, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, ventilated seats and a powered tailgate. The panoramic sunroof continues as before. Harrier here lags the Compass facelift as it misses out some nifty features like Alexa support, 360 degree camera and wireless charging. Not to mention that the Harrier gets only a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat and an 8.8 inch touchscreen. However it is important to note that the Harrier's cabin in no way feels inferior. Infact the tan upholstery makes the overall cabin experience a very premium one.

3. Pricing - This is where the Harrier actually takes the lead from the Compass. Moving further, talking about the turbo CVT first, it clocked 0-60 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and 0-100 km/h time of 12.8 seconds. The turbo manual, on the other hand, clocked 0-60 km/h time of 5.1 seconds and 0-100 km/h time of 12.1 seconds.

So the turbo manual of the Nissan Magnite is faster than the turbo CVT. However, the margin between the two isn't that much - even lesser than a second. Given the supreme convenience the X-Tronic CVT from Nissan offers, the acceleration is very brisk and impressive. It is worth noting that the CVT model gets 152 Nm of torque which is lesser than the 160 Nm we get in the turbo manual.

Also, in the video, you can see that the kick down acceleration in the CVT is much better than the turbo manual. The RPMs climb up much faster when compared to the manual and gives a strong surge of torque tp move things further. Nissan has indeed done a fantastic tuning with the CVT which results in amazing part-throttle responses. In conclusion, the 0-100 and kick down performance of the Nissan Magnite is great, if not the best in its segment.

SUVs are the new cool, they say it like that, don't they? Yes, with this rising trend, sales of SUVs in the Indian market are booming and every carmaker is competing with each other to provide the best product. And not just that, carmakers know how price-sensitive Indians are and they do not want to risk it at all. But then you see, the famous German carmaker, Volkswagen bringing in a new SUV, T-Roc, which is priced at Rs 19.99 Lakh. So what makes it special? And how does it drive? Is it worth the money? Or it is just a rich spoilt kid with European advantages? Let's find out in this first drive review of Volkswagen T-Roc.

Is the Volkswagen T-Roc Worth Its Money?



Well, having driven this SUV over the weekend, one thing I can say that this is a flamboyant one and deserves its place when you buy it with a heart and not the money-conscious mind. As they say, Shauk badi cheez hai. So yes, if you are in the market to buy a full-fledged German SUV that provides good safety, excellent build material and a sweet, peppy petrol motor, then this is the one for you. 



How does it drive?



I have said this before and will repeat myself again, this is a compact SUV rather than a premium hatchback on steroids. But when you are behind the wheel, it really feels superior and gives you the best of both the worlds. That means driving pleasure as well as the mileage.

The steering feels light at lower speeds which makes it easier to drive in city and while parking in tight spaces. Once you're clocking triple digits speeds or say above 70 km/h you will notice how the steering gives you the high-speed confidence and you are able to cruise normally without having to worry too much about high speed manners. Another thing which I like about the T-Roc is the cornering stability with its swift response and well controlled body rolls.



One interesting feature is of the lane assist which at times gives you confidence but mostly scares you if you aren't too careful. Maybe we Indians are not used to it or call it as a high-class safety feature which Indian roads are not apt for. The basic function of the lane assist system is to keep the car in a particular lane. That means if you have this Switched ON on Indian roads then the steering will force you to keep the vehicle in lane.

So this becomes a risky affair if you are used to driving with one hand and not following a particular lane. You have to hold the steering wheel with both your hands. I had my own fun where I wanted to check if it will work on the translucent lane and to my surprise, it didn't. I mostly had this feature off during the time I had this car. 



It is a CBU import and carries all the goodness like its international model. The suspension is slightly on the stiffer side and at lower speeds, sharp bumps will be felt inside the cabin. But those vanish as soon as you put your foot on the throttle and this not so small SUV glides over them.

Paddle shifters really make it a worthy match considering its size. Just press the (- or +) and you are good to take the controls manually. This engine is refined and once you hit that mid-range, it brings a grin to your face. The turbo spools up and there you go. It has no problem reaching the 6,500 rpm mark at all.

Even when you have to overtake the vehicle in front of you at highways and you are driving it on the D7 mode at 90 km/h, one press at the accelerator and it shifts three gears down and at D4 it gives you an intense boost of performance. The system is smart enough to understand the mechanism and you need not take matters in your own hands (I mean through paddle shifters).

But driving aggressively like above definitely takes a toll on the fuel economy and we at <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="91Wheels (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmRNHqMiIEc&amp;list=PL7yEWuLhKdjiUbpNSYmB_34ux62jb8ed6" target="_blank">91Wheels</a> do not like that. Yes, with our fuel efficiency runs and bringing you the correct information about the mileage, we drove with a light foot and when the ECO mode on the instrument cluster appears, the car automatically shuts off the two cylinders. Yep, that's possible. It certainly saves up fuel and gives you a better mileage.

One thing that constantly bugged me while driving this SUV or while writing this review was the blind spot. So if you have to park it into tight spaces then you have to be really good at what you do and not scratch the car. Take a test ride and you will know. 



Space and Comfort



After enjoying behind the wheel scenes with the T-Roc, I decided to take a back seat experience on how well it packs space on the inside. To my surprise, it doesn't. I mean, it is good for two people but adding one more will add to discomfort only. Also, the space is sufficient and not the best in class. Don't get me wrong, the rear seats are comfortable but then there is shortage of knee-room and headroom in here. The roof has been scooped out but still, tall passengers will definitely complain.

Also, no electrically adjustable front seats. At least if I am paying Rs 19.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, I should be given this basic feature. I really disliked this very thing in the car. I had to adjust the seat manually whenever our camera guy used to take shots and disrupt the seating position. 



The boot space is good with 445 litres carrying capacity for the weekend trip. But a little more than that, it will be a problem. Of course, you can fold the rear seats for more space if you are just 2 people on board. It has a good loading target which helped in keeping our camera gears and bags easily.

It gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has a good touch response and gets modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Volkswagen T-Roc is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brakes, six airbags, front parking sensors, push-button start, lane assist system, rear disc brakes, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control is some of the features it gets. 



Verdict



Well, as I said above, if you are to buy this SUV for great driving pleasure and that peppy petrol motor, then go for it. If money is not an issue and you are to drive this SUV and take weekend trips, then go for it. It is rich in features and is definitely a looker wherever you go. This isn't quite an SUV for people who have a family.

In this first look review of the Kia Sonet, we will share with you how the iMT variant drives in the city.

Kia made its debut with the Seltos last year and till date, it has sold over 1 lakh unit. Yes, that's how big its success was. Then came the Carnival and just a few days ago, Kia launched the Sonet which debuts in the sub-compact SUV department.

As far as its design goes, it looks fresh and agile. Yes, the tiger-nose grille, all-LED headlights or the chrome knurling at the front grille. The car looks good from all angles. You get a reflector strip at the rear which connects with the taillights. Also, the front and rear skid plates give the SUV a sporty appeal.

Interiors and Design

Step inside and you will notice a big touchscreen infotainment system. This is a 10.25-inch with Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. It also gets signature connected car technology also known as the UVO. The beige and black interiors of the tech line give a premium look, however, it is the GT line trim which stands out with the interior design. Kia gives an all-black interior with contrast red stitching. 



I found the centre console a bit cluttered than its competition. No doubt, the cabin feels nice and tech-friendly but then the design could have been less tacky. At the front, the space is good for both driver and co-driver and comes with ventilated seats which are a good addition in the segment.

However, the same cannot be said about the rear as the Sonet can only seat 4 people comfortably. Bring on an additional one and you'll begin to feel claustrophobic. But a compromise in the cabin inside turned out well for the boot as it is massive in its segment. A 392 litres boot space for all your weekend road trips. 



<h5>Engine and Performance </h5>



I drove the 1.0-litre turbo petrol the Kia Sonet with an iMT gearbox. This motor churns out 117 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. The not so new-age gearbox felt nice when I drove and did not lag like an AMT. However, it wasn't as exciting as the AT either but it did the job pretty well in the traffic. What I liked was the quick acceleration and the response from the gearbox.

An instance happened where I was driving the Sonet at 60 km/h at 6th gear. Upon braking as I was approaching the traffic, the speed fell down and I thought to myself that whether the car will continue to drive at 6th gear in speeds of 20km/h. And I was surprised to see how smart the system is and the speedometer console asked me to downshift to 2nd gear. That's how wonderful the iMT is. Same goes for when you are accelerating hard and you will have to change the gear according to the speed else you will just harm the engine and the gearbox.

<h5>Driving Dynamic </h5>

Well, like the engine and its gearbox the same cannot be said for the dynamics of the vehicle. Being an SUV, I am aware of the body roll it has to offer but I experienced a lot more than its rivals. The car performs well in city traffic when you are driving on a light foot. However, things change when you are making a sharp turn or approaching a roundabout at a higher speed. Then I felt that Sonet really comes with loads of body roll.

Kia offers 24 first in segment features for the Sonet which accounts up to wireless phone projection, ventilated seats, front parking sensors, OTA updates, bose sound system, traction modes, wake up command and several other features. Kia has played well with the pricing factory and it starts from Rs 6.71 lakh and go up till Rs 11.99 lakh. Well, the top of the line GTX with AT gearbox is yet to be launched. All the prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. The Sonet rivals with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Maruti Brezza and Mahindra XUV300.

The new Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 runs on 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre measures 100/80-17 while the rear one is a 100/90 section 17-inch unit. For braking duties, it gets a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the rear with CBS. The suspension duties on the NS 125 are performed by telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. Just like all other NS', the Pulsar NS 125 gets a semi-analogue semi-digital instrument cluster.

The Yamaha R15 V3 is an entry-level fully-faired motorcycle from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer in India. It slots in above the MT 15 &amp; FZ 25 and sits below the Superbike range in Yamaha's India line-up. Also, let me give you a quick minutia about the history of the R15 in India. So, the Yamaha R15 was first launched in India in 2008. The R15 V2 made its debut in 2011 and carried forward the legacy of the R15 brand. Fast forward to 2018, the R15 V3 was introduced and it redefined the sports bike segment in India. In 2019, it got a new colour variant and dual-channel ABS was introduced. And now in 2020, the BS6-compliant R15 V3 has been launched.

The Yamaha R15 V3 looks splendidly awesome. Upfront, it gets twin LED headlamps, a short visor, rear-view mirrors mounted on the body panels and more. The side profile is very striking as it gets a fully-faired body with attractive graphics and funky colours. At the rear, it gets a LED taillamp. Moreover, its leaned seating position will definitely offer you exhilarating riding experience. So, in a nutshell, we can say that it features an aerodynamic design language, sharp aggressive eyes, muscular fuel-tank and the overall design will surely impel you to gaze it in wonderment.

Also, it has a minimum ground clearance of 170 mm, which is very impressive by sports bike standards. The new R15 V3 BS6 is available in three colour variants – Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Dark Knight.

The R15 V3 also gets Yamaha's VVA or Variable Valve Actuation technology. This high-performance VVA system provides torque for ease of use even at low RPMs. It&nbsp;ensures that a good amount of power and torque is present throughout the entire rev range. The R15 V3 delivers a decent mileage of around 40-45 kmpl.



<h6>2020 Yamaha R15 V3 BS6: Tyres, Brakes and Features</h6>



The 2020 Yamaha R15 V3 is based on a deltabox frame and it also gets an aluminium swingarm. The motorcycle gets telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. The R15 V3 runs on 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre measures 100/80-17 while the rear one is a 140/70 section 17-inch unit. It is worth mentioning that the rear tyre of the R15 is a radial unit which offers superb grip and aids in handling characteristics of the bike.

The braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both the ends. At the front, it gets a 282 mm disc while the rear one is a 220 mm disc unit. It also gets a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard as an additional safety aid. The R15 V3 features an all-digital instrument cluster loaded with a ton of information. It displays digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, twin trip meters and even a gear position indicator. It also boasts of an <a href="https://www.91wheels.com/news/what-is-a-slipper-clutch/">assist &amp; slipper clutch</a>, which is a very useful safety feature.

The 2020 Yamaha R15 V3 BS6 is available in only one variant but multiple colour options. The Thunder Grey colour variant of the R15 V3 is priced at Rs. 1,45,800, Racing Blue colour variant is priced at Rs. 1,46,900 and the Dark Knight variant is priced at Rs. 1,47,900. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi. It rivals against the KTM RC 125, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, Suzuki Gixxer SF, etc. Talking about the verdict, so if you want a fully-faired feature-loaded motorcycle with punchy performance, gobsmacking looks at an affordable price, then you should definitely consider buying the Yamaha R15 V3.

At the front, the motorcycle gets a round headlamp with a daytime-running LED, fork gaiters for the front forks, a new rugged front mudguard, and more. The side profile of the motorcycle houses a new thick crash guard, a bash plate for the engine, and a wider tank with knee pads. At the rear, one can see its grab rail with a luggage carrier that can carry loads up to 7 kgs. It is available in four colour variants. They are Blue with black, Red with black, Green with Golden and Red.&nbsp;All in all, it looks quite rugged and purposeful.

The newly launched Bajaj CT 110X is powered by a BS6 compliant 115.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected DTS-i engine. This motor churns out 8.6 PS of maximum power at 7000 RPM and 9.81 Nm of peak torque at 5000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. This is the same engine that does its duty in the regular CT 110 and even the Platina 110.

The new Bajaj CT 110X gets alloy wheels with semi knobby tyres. These are 17-inch units but the exact sizes have not been revealed yet and it gets alloy wheels. For braking duties, the motorcycle gets drum brakes at either end with CBS as an additional safety aid. The suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks at the front and at the rear, it gets twin spring-loaded shock absorbers. The Bajaj CT 110X gets an analogue instrument cluster.

Triumph Motorcycles recently launched the all-new 2021 Triumph Trident 660 in India. The Triumph&nbsp;Trident 660 is based on a new tubular steel perimeter frame. For suspension duties, it gets premium 41 mm USD forks at the front from Showa while at the rear, it gets a Showa mono-shock absorber with pre-load adjustment. The braking duties are performed by twin 310 mm discs at the front and a single 255 mm disc at the rear. It gets Nissin brake callipers and dual-channel ABS as standard. It runs on 17-inch radial tyres. Talking about features, it gets a multi-function TFT display with a host of features that can be accessed via the My Triumph Connectivity System accessory module.

2021 Triumph Trident 660 First Look Review - The Most Affordable Triumph in India!

Maruti Suzuki XL6 has been our long term companion for 60 days or 2 months now and I picked it up on October 31st from Bunny Punia. This XL6 is the top of the line Alpha variant and comes with a sole 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The good thing was that ours was equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

I have been using the XL6 as my daily drive for a month now and have clocked 1000 km just like I did in the pre-corona times. Needless to say, I am impressed with the way it looks and how supremely spacious this is from the inside. One can actually move into a house with this one. Well, I actually did stuff in my cycle, mattresses, carpets and still, there was a bit of space left for more cargo.

Bunny has described how this one looks and the link to that is right <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="here (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.91wheels.com/expert-review/maruti-xl6-long-term-review" target="_blank">here</a> but I will not mention anything about its design but some shortcomings which are quite visible to the naked eyes. The 15-inch wheel size with 185/65 R15 dimension looks small on this huge car. Just an inch more and the car would have looked awesome.



The second thing, in my opinion, is the disproportionate body cladding on the side profile and lower portions of doors. One look at the rear door from either side and you notice the huge panel gap which does not give away a superior look from the Ertiga on which it is based.

Jumping inside and you notice the all-black interiors which really gives it a plush look. To be honest, I am not a fan of beige and black interiors so I was quite happy to ditch my Grand i10 and use this as my daily driver. Yes, it missed the torque like the diesel but hey, it does get Smart Hybrid. 



Driving Pleasure



Coming straight to the driving part and how it drives then the 1.5-litre petrol is suitable for the city and for highway usage. It produces 103 bhp with 138 Nm of peak torque and the 5-speed manual is light to use and it delivered me a pretty decent mileage.

Honestly, I drove it with an extremely light foot which sure can be tiring for some but hey, it delivered me above 20 km/l in my 100 km daily run. But when the mood was right and I used the longer route to work, I experienced the motor in an extremely raw manner. By that I mean, it revs easily till 6200-6300 RPM and god it gets noisy. 



Another thing which I liked is that because of the mid flat range, you can easily engage the 5th gear when doing between 40 and 50 and there will be no lag when you are using the throttle gently. That is how good this engine is. Also, the NVH levels are adequate and the engine is supremely refined.

In common man's world and when you are not doing FE tests, once can easily achieve between 15-18 km/l which is quite good for a car of this size. The car feels comfortable at triple digits and even though the steering feels on a heavier side for city usage, out on the open roads it really gives you confidence. 



One interesting and the most helpful bit I found was Maruti's Smart Hybrid system. Here, the ISG is paired with a lithium-ion and a lead-acid battery which regenerates the braking energy and provides with torque assist. This is quite helpful in the city runs when you need that torque boost to move out of the jam. Another is the idle start/stop which can be annoying at times because the car automatically stops when you put it in neutral and gets On when you press the clutch. For those wondering if they can turn this feature off then yes, you can!

Another thing is that the smart hybrid works at a certain speed for every gear. Suppose you are cruising at 70 km/h at 5th gear and you need to slow down. Now when you reach 41 km/h at 5th gear, till that time the regenerative system works and below that, it stops. That means now you need to engage in 4th gear and simultaneously adjust the gear ratios to the speed in order to work the motor which then feeds to the battery. To be honest, it seemed fair. 



While doing this you can observe how the motor works in absorbing the energy in the MID and can see how many green bars are present. You get a total of five bars and this system gets activated at 3 or more bars only. Similarly, when you push the pedal hard then the motor provides you with that torque assist and you can very well see that in the throttle response as well in the MID that how the smart hybrid system works.

I used the driver's seat so had no idea what was in like the rear seats, but my family and friends sat in both the rows and they were completely satisfied with the comfort. However, one thing which we all complained was the suspension and for the person sitting in the last row, it gets real rough when you have to travel on bad roads. As for the other two roads, it is okayish. You do hear the noise of large potholes though.

Maruti XL6 Long Term Review - 28 Days And 1000 Km Later

The XL6 arrived <a href="https://www.91wheels.com/expert-review/maruti-xl6-long-term-review">last month</a> for a 3 month long term experience here at 91Wheels and as stated earlier, it did take us for a much needed break outside the limits of NCR. The vacation also saw the Maruti XL6 completing one month with us and here is a quick update on how it has been faring till now.

As you can see above, the XL6 has covered over 1000km in the last one month. A major contribution to this was the 650km round trip to Bhimtal lake and back. Due to ample shoots and test cars coming in, the car was otherwise not used much inside Delhi NCR. Back to the trip, the XL6 took in four adults, two kids and luggage for the 4 day road trip. I wasn't expecting it to be so spacious but surprisingly, this Ertiga based Nexa offering did not disappoint us at all. Infact, individual seats in the 2nd row meant the kids could shuffle between this place and the 3rd row easily. Removal of a bench also gives a sense of airiness.

What we didn't like though was the comfort factor from the front two seats. Both me and dad shared the same opinion and we did have a mild back ache by the end of the trip. Likewise, the suspension, under such a load, doesn't take undulations pretty well. That said, the XL6 performed flawlessly and the torque push from the electric motor of the hybrid set-up comes very handy. This combined with short gearing meant the 3rd gear was used best between 25-40km/h, even on uphill sections. The LED lights also do their job pretty well and are useful for clearing out the right lane on open roads. In terms of fuel economy, it delivers an easy 17-18 kmpl with the cruise set at 90km/h and A/C running. Overall, for the Bhimtal trip, it returned over 15 kmpl which includes the hill driving. SHVS comes handy inside town when brake regen charges up the secondary battery that in turn powers the lil electric motor.

Maruti XL6 Petrol Manual Long Term Update

The XL6 was launched last year and created a niche for itself in the Rs 10-12 lakh bracket. Based on the successful <a href="https://www.91wheels.com/cars/maruti/ertiga">Ertiga</a>, the XL6 is aimed towards buyers who want a family vehicle but with sportier intentions and individual second row seats for added comfort levels. This 6 seater is sold via <a href="https://www.nexaexperience.com/">Nexa outlets</a> and for the next three months, we will be bring you updates as we munch up miles, as part of our Maruti XL6 long term review.

We picked up the media vehicle yesterday and it already had almost 14,000km on the odometer. This one is the 1.5 litre manual version though Maruti also offers an optional 4-speed automatic gearbox. There is no diesel engine option in the pipeline but the mild hybrid set-up ensures the XL6 will deliver decent mileage figures in urban runs. We plan to cover a lot of miles in this Nexa offering and the XL6 will also see a couple of outstation trips in the next few weeks. As I said earlier, it is based on the Ertiga but ends up getting its own identity due to multiple changes on the outside. The headlamps for example are new and the LEDs do ensure excellent illumination at night. The all around black cladding also lends it a sportier stance. That said, we would have liked taller and wider tyres on this one. The biggest change in on the inside, with the bench 2nd row being replaced with individual seats. This also means kids can walk through the seats to the last row.

One of the youngest players in the Indian car market has a British heritage but comes under a major Chinese player, SIAC. Set-up in 1996, Hyundai brought in technology and features never before seen on any Indian made car. The (then) Santro was a perfect example and over the years, this Korean giant has ensured a solid number two position in terms of sales. They continue to sell over 40,000 units on a monthly basis and overtaken Maruti in some segments as well. The company has been experimenting with premium products like the Santa Fe, Tucson and Elantra and has not lost its focus from providing a

One of the oldest car manufacturers in India has a loyal following even today. Inspite of its offerings being priced at a premium, customers don&rsquo;t shy away from owning a Honda in the Indian market. Their sub-brands like the City are still selling in great numbers, keeping the company among the top 6-7 manufacturers in terms of sales. The model line-up offer a premium appeal, ease of driving, high levels of comfort and a strong brand recall. As of March 2020, the company sells 7 models in 
India, ranging from the Amaze to the CR-V. Yes, there is no hatchback offering from Honda and going forward, they will concentrate on the mid and high segments only. This Madras-based inland bike-maker now ranks as India&rsquo;s third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer and has annual sales of over 30 lakhs units. TVS Motor Company has gained immense popularity in India in recent years due to its well-rounded products in every segment. TVS manufactures India&rsquo;s cheapest moped, good practical commuters, and sports bikes, and sporty scooters like the Apache series and the TVS Ntorq. TVS has now even entered the electric vehicle space in India with its debut product TVS iQube. Its a little known fact but they&nbsp;also manufacture the famous 310 series of bikes for BMW in India.&nbsp;</div>

Present in the Indian car market since 1997, Toyota has earned trust of consumers when it comes to providing reliable vehicles. Even the first generation Qualis MPV continuous to do duties in smaller town without a hiccup. Ditto for the Innova that is well known as a reliable workhorse. Unfortunately, the company&rsquo;s smaller offerings like the Etios and the Liva have not tasted success. To overcome this, the company has tied up with Maruti Suzuki and the result of which has been seen in the form of the Glanza hatchback. More such products will be launched in 2020 and 2021. Royal Enfield is a very popular name-plate in India, famous for its signature &lsquo;thump&rsquo; and retro-appeal in almost every household of the country. Royal Enfield is an Indian motorcycling brand which originated in the United Kingdom and started its journey way-back in 1901. This Iconic two-wheeler manufacturer has a tag of the oldest motorcycle brand in the world in continuous production. In fact, the Royal Enfield Bullet enjoys the title of the longest motorcycle production run of all time. This Madras-based home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer currently deals in a lot of evocative motorcycle series like the Bullet, Classic, Thunderbird, Himalayan Adventure motorcycle and the RE 650 twins. Royal Enfield is now a subsidiary of the Indian automaker Eicher Motors Limited and the company churns out a healthy (nearly) 50,000 sales volume every month.

Another homegrown manufacturer that is holding onto its fort tightly is Mahindra. They only have SUVs / MPVs in their line-up and their oldest brand, the Bolero still remains a best seller in most markets around India. For passenger vehicles, the likes of the Scorpio, XUV500 and XUV300 still make up for a good chunk. Mahindra&rsquo;s offerings have moved ahead with times when it comes to features, reliability and road presence. Though they do promote adventure, most of their offerings do not offer 4x4 or AWD anymore. However, the all-new Thar is one awaited compact SUV that will suit adventure junkies and urban youth alike. Likewise, other SUVs in the portfolio are also due for a complete makeover in 2020 and in 2021. The company is also working hard towards EV options with the eKUV100 being the latest addition.

Pune-based Bajaj Auto is an Indian two-wheeler giant that now stands as the world&rsquo;s largest three-wheeler manufacturer, India&rsquo;s second-largest manufacturer of motorcycles and the world&rsquo;s third-largest two-wheeler maker. Bajaj Auto was founded in 1945 and it started selling imported two-wheelers and three-wheelers back then. Later, the company started its own manufacturing unit and in 1972 Bajaj launched its iconic scooter - Bajaj Chetak. Chetak was an affordable means of transportation for millions of Indian families for decades and is lovingly called &lsquo;Hamara Bajaj.&rsquo; Bajaj Auto also made everyone say wow with its Pulsar series of motorcycles that debuted in 2001. The Pulsar brand completed its glorious 18 years of existence in 2019 and till date, more than one crore Pulsars have been sold worldwide. Recently, Bajaj also rejuvenated the Chetak nameplate in India as an all-electric scooter and became the first mainstream Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to do so.

However, in 2001 Yamaha Motor India Limited was formed as a 100% Indian subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha Motor Company. Yamaha is known for making fun-to-drive, reliable, and powerful mad machines and it was Yamaha who started the affordable performance motorcycling segment in India with the R15. The Yamaha R15 is still a benchmark in its category and along with it, Yamaha sells a lot of other mass-market products like 125cc scooters and 160cc bikes. As of March 2020, Yamaha has stopped selling 100-125cc motorcycles as these were not BS6 compliant.&nbsp;

Jeep is an Iconic sports utility vehicle (SUV) maker. The Jeeps are very popular in India and they have been built in the country since the 1960&rsquo;s by Mahindra. However, this American car manufacturer directly entered the Indian market in the year 2016. Jeep marked its debut in India with the premium go-anywhere and luxury 4x4 SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. Within a year of its debut, Jeep launched its Made in India SUV called the Jeep Compass and it created a very strong image for the brand in the Indian market. Currently, Jeep sells four models in India: Jeep Compass, Compass Trailhawk, Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee. This US carmaker also plans to soon launch multiple new products in India including a seven-seater version of the Compass SUV.

Ather Energy received seed-funding from Flipkart&rsquo;s co-founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal and the brand launched its first electric scooter Ather 450 in India in 2018. Ather 450 was initially sold only in Bengaluru followed by Chennai and the Indian audience was hugely impressed by this product. Following the 450, Ather also launched the more affordable Ather 340 in India but it was later discontinued and recently the brand has launched its flagship E-scooter Ather 450X. Ather is gradually expanding its reach in the country and the brand is the most sought-after electric two-wheeler because of its interesting products and a unique DC fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles called Ather Grid. Not many know that Ford has been present in the Indian car market since 1995! They had initially tied up with Mahindra and the company was termed as &lsquo;Mahindra Ford India Limited&rsquo; - cars like Escort and the Ikon were launched under this JV. BMW is a German luxury carmaker that entered India in the year 2007. BMW is the best luxury car manufacturer in India after Mercedes-Benz in terms of sales. From April 2020, Audi has put a hold on diesel engines in India and only focusing on petrol and hybrid powertrains. Audi also offers its performance brand in India called &ldquo;RS&rdquo; which offers high-performance sports cars and sports sedans. Some of the latest models include the stunning Q8 and the super luxury limo, the A8!

Mercedes-Benz is part of the Diamler AG group that has its headquarters in Germany. The brand entered the Indian luxury car market in 1994 and currently has the largest luxury car network in India. Their manufacturing facility is based on the outskirts of Pune and the company sells almost the entire range of cars here in India. They also run the AMG Driving Academy for enthusiasts and remains the most desirable brand when it comes to aspirational cars in India. Not many also know that Mercedes even sells the luxury V class van in the country.&nbsp;

All three cars are stupendous value for money products and are a preferred choice for them who are looking for an affordable, practical and feature-loaded family car. Moreover, Datsun GO twins are the only cars in their segment to come with a CVT gearbox and Datsun Redi-GO is the most affordable BS6-compliant car on sale in India as of May 2020. Datsun brand is gradually expanding its portfolio with new-age products and the company might also soon launch the new Datsun GO-Cross in the country.

Volvo is an Swedish brand that offers various kinds of body types in India -&nbsp;sedans, station wagon and SUVs are part of the&nbsp;line-up in the country. The SUV line up includes XC40, XC60 and the big boy XC90. Their plant is set up at the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The S90 is the ultra-luxurious sedan that rivals the&nbsp;BMW 5 Series and Merc E-Class. The popular S60 sedan is due for its next generation as it was showing its age in the market. The XC60 was also available with the Polestar variant and just recently,&nbsp;an all-electric model also known as Polestar 2 was unveiled. The Swedish carmaker has discontinued the diesel engine from the XC40 altogether and also the AWD version. Now, the XC40 comes with a 2.0L petrol engine and with an FWD set up.

The most affordable Rolls Royce is the Ghost Series II which is priced at Rs 4.48 crore. The Cullinan which is the only SUV from the luxury carmaker is home to several celebrites of Bollywood and industrialists. Currently, the Ghost series II is discontinued in the Indian market as the carmaker is gearing up for the Ghost Series III. Not many know this fact but Rolls Royce is owned by the BMW Group

The MINI brand is part of the BMW Group and made its entry into the Indian car market in 2012. Their cars are retailed through a completely independent showroom set-up and the German brand got its range of Cooper and Countryman way back in 2012 itself. Their offerings remain exclusive and distinctive and the current line-up has the latest avatars of global brand names including John Cooper Works. Prices start from Rs 34,50,000 with almost unlimited ways of personlising your car!&nbsp;

Believe it not but Porsche has been selling cars in India since 2004! With their HQ in Mumbai, this performance car marker has spread its wings far and wide and with options like the Macan on sale, they have&nbsp;also widened their customer base. 2020 will also see the launch of their e-Supercar, the Taycan. Likewise, more than half of all Porsches sold in India will either be hybrids or full-electric options. Porsche is part of the much bigger Volkswagen Group&nbsp;

Ferrari re-entered the Indian high performance car market in 2015. It now has two dealers in the country - Select Cars in New Delhi and Navnit Motors in Mumbai. So if you live in any other part of the country, you will be home delivered your dream machine. The brand needs no introduction and some years back, celebrated its 70th anniversary in style - at the Mecca of Motorsports, the Buddh International Circuit. Maserati entered the Indian luxury car market in 2011. However, two years down the line, they had to stop the commercial sale of cars due to the termination of the contract with the Shreyans Group. 1. Not So VFM



With the prices of the Ecosport going up and a number of features getting deleted from the spec sheet, the Ecosport is no longer a VFM product. The facelift model misses out on many essential features like a front-seat lumbar adjustment. 



2. Feels Dated



The Ecosport was first launched in the year 2013 and since then, there have been no major updates made to the product. The vehicle is still based on the same platform and gets the same basic architecture. However, it is worth noting that the brand may launch the next-gen Ecosport is a couple of years.



3. Stiff Suspension Setup



The Ecosport gets slightly stiffer suspension setup which makes it a great handler but takes a toll on the overall ride quality of the vehicle. In addition to this, the car does tend to get bouncy on badly patched up surfaces at low city speeds. 



4. Narrow Second Row



The second row of the vehicle is not so spacious and may not accommodate three grown-up adults with ease. The rear seat is best suited for two adults and a small child. 



5. Thick A-Pillar Causes Blind Spot



The A-Pillar of the vehicle is extremely thick which creates a hindrance to the overall visibility from the driver's seat. You may find this vehicle difficult to drive initially due to the not so great visibility.

The big-butch SUV from Ford got updated with the latest 2.0L diesel engine which now is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The ARAI certified mileage is also improved with this unit. It comes with two trims - Titanium and Titanium Plus. The latter comes with a panoramic sunroof and the prices start from Rs 31.56 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. 



Mahindra Alturas G4 Engine - 2.2L Diesel Power - 178 bhp and 420 Nm

Mahindra just introduced the AlturasG4 in its BS6 from and offers two trims - 2WD and 4WD. The latter comes with a panoramic sunroof and is priced at Rs 39.69 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is offered in a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace Engine - 2.0L Petrol Power - 188 bhp and 320 Nm

Volkswagen introduced the all-new Tiguan AllSpace at the 2020 Auto Expo and it comes in a single trim only. It gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox and gets an AWD set up. This same engine will come with the Skoda Kodiaq and Superb facelift. However, the power figures are expected to be altered. Coming to the prices then it comes at Rs 33.12 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. 



BMW X1 Engine - 2.0L Petrol, 2.0L Diesel Power - 189 bhp and 280 Nm, 188 bhp and 400 Nm

BMW X1 is one of the most affordable premium SUV to touch this segment of cars under Rs 40 lakh that offers panoramic sunroof in India. It comes in both petrol and diesel and the sunroof is available right from its base trim which starts from Rs 35.9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. 



Volvo XC40 Engine - 2.0L Petrol Power - 190 bhp and 300 Nm

With the BS6 emission norms, Volvo India discontinued the 2.0L diesel and introduced a 2.0L BS6 compliant petrol motor. It is available in a single trim, T4-R Design and is priced at Rs 39.9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Looks like it just made to this segment!
