Looks great in real life. Sporty yet elegant. New lamps and tweaked alloy wheels.
The Baleno's interior is all jumbled up and feels more luxurious than the previous generation. The 2022 Baleno features a new flat bottom steering, revamped aircon vents, and dual-colored dash board. It has a 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ infotainment system with Suzuki Connect, which allows it to have 40+ smart functions. The top-of-the-line model will also include an ARKAMYS sound system. The interior modifications aren't finished yet, you'll get automatic climate control, gear shift indicator, all four power windows, and a rear defogger starting with the base model. The lower variants have only a tilt function, whilst the top two variants have both a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Also, from the Delta variant you’ll get steering mounted controls.
A 360-degree camera, heads-up display (HUD), and Alexa connectivity with Suzuki Connect are among the interior's segment-first features. It has Type A and Type C fast charging connectors on the back, as well as much-needed aircon vent. Apart from it, the hatchback's back end is comparable to the previous generation. The top-of-the-line model additionally includes a 60:40 split seat and a rear headrest. The headroom and knee room in the back are both enough, and it can comfortably seat a tall person.
Space remains a strong point. New fascia, added features. Still misses out on a sunroof though.
The new Baleno's engine has been fine-tuned to deliver a considerable amount of power and torque. The figures are impressive and comparable to rivals' non-turbo machines. This engine will deliver good performance on both manual and automatic transmissions for the majority of purchasers, but it may disappoint those looking for a performance hatchback. The engine is quiet and smooth, with no or little vibrations, and it runs nicely in city traffic.
The revised suspension performs well in terms of ride quality and noise absorption. The steering setup is the same as before, and it provides a good ride and handling, as well as being light and comfortable in city driving. The brakes have been changed, so they now provide confidence in unexpected braking situations, and these modest changes have improved the ride and handling.
Surprisingly, the ride quality is excellent. Handling remains neutral for both family users as well as enthusiasts.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno for 2022 is unquestionably a fantastic premium hatchback with a lot of features and a fresh look. Maruti has gone above and beyond to improve the Baleno's features, which include some segment firsts. The base model comes with a long list of features, including all four power windows, automatic climate control, and more. Maruti has hit the bullseye in this segment with a starting price of Rs 6.35 lakh (ex-showroom), as they've priced it smartly and competitively. With best-in-class fuel economy and an easy-on-the-pocket AGS transmission, we're confident that this revised model will remain among India's top five selling cars.
Nonetheless, there are a few drawbacks. No diesel, which is still chosen by people who drive more kilometers every month. Both the i20 and the Altroz have turbo petrol engines as an option, which the Baleno lacks.

The 2022 Baleno will compete directly with the other premium hatchbacks on the Indian market. Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and Honda Jazz remains the Baleno's main competitors. When compared to its competitors, the Baleno is reasonably priced, but it lacks a diesel engine. This is where the competition has the upper hand. Although it has a reasonably cost AMT unit that starts from the second spec trim, the Baleno also has an advantage over competitors in terms of several features. The 2022 Baleno has some segment-first characteristics that set it apart from the competition.
In the same price, you can also pick from sub 4m compact sedan as well as mid versions of sub 4m compact SUVs.
The i20 is its closest rival but the Baleno does seem like a genuine all-rounder. Diesel engine sorely missed
