The Dzire already shocked everyone with its impressive performance at the Global NCAP crash tests, and it has now repeated its feat at the Bharat NCAP. Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno isn't too far behind with a four-star safety rating, three years after its current model was launched.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Scores 5 Stars; Details

The Dzire has repeated its impressive feat at the Bharat NCAP, scoring 29.46 points out of 32.00 in adult occupancy safety, and 41.57 out of 49.00 points in terms of child occupancy safety. Maruti Suzuki sent the LXi MT variant for the test, but the results are applicable for all variants, and it comes with six airbags as standard.

Protection to the driver was rated good overall in the side pole impact test. In the front offset deformable barrier test, protection to the head, neck, pelvis and thigh regions for both front occupants was also rated good. However, protection to the driver and front passenger's chest was rated 'marginal' and 'adequate' respectively, along with an 'adequate' rating for both front occupants. The side movable deformable barrier test also saw the car offer mostly 'good' levels of protection to the driver, with the exception of chest protection rated 'adequate'.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Scores 5 Stars; Details

The car maker tested both its lower and higher variants of the Baleno, given that its come with a two-airbag setup as standard, while six airbags are available in the higher ones. The difference in results, however, is marginal. The Alpha AMT and Delta AMT variants secured 24.04 points out of 32.00 in adult occupancy safety, and 34.81 out of 49.00 points in child occupancy safety. These ratings are applicable to the following variants;
- SIGMA 1.2L MT
- DELTA 1.2L MT
- ZETA 1.2L MT
- ALPHA 1.2L MT
- DELTA 1.2L AMT
- ZETA 1.2L AMT
- ALPHA 1.2L AMT
Meanwhile, the variants with six airbags performed marginally better, with 26.52 out of 32.00 points in adult occupancy safety, while child occupant safety ratings remain the same at 34.81 out of 49.00 points. These ratings apply to the following variants;

ZETA 1.2L AMT

Both the lower and higher variants of the Baleno offer similar levels of protection to the driver and front passenger in the side pole impact tests. However, in the front offset deformable barrier tests, while protection to the head is rated 'good', protection to the driver's chest, thighs and pelvis area is rated 'marginal', and 'adequate' for the driver's legs and feet. Simiarly, protection to the front passenger's head is also rated 'good', and 'marginal' for the passenger's chest, pelvis, thighs, legs and feet.
