KIA Carens Clavis & Carens CNG

The upcoming Carens Clavis and Carens CNG will be equipped with a factory-fitted 60-litre CNG tank. They will also feature a modified third-row frame designed to offer improved comfort and a good recline angle for third-row passengers. Both models will get a modified suspension setup to handle the additional weight, along with 16-inch wheels, front disc brakes, and CNG-specific engine calibration. Kia has also added a CNG fuel changeover switch and a CNG DTE (Distance To Empty) display to enhance the CNG driving experience.

In terms of the powertrain, the Carens Clavis CNG will be available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine will produce 95 bhp and 123 Nm of peak torque. The Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in the HTE and HTE (O) variants. The HTE (O) variant will feature a digital instrument console, touchscreen infotainment system, flex wheels, and other features. The Carens CNG, on the other hand, will be available in the Premium (O) variant with the same engine and transmission combination. Kia will also offer both MPVs to B2B customers and fleet operators.

Upon launch, the Carens Clavis will become the only MPV in the mass-market segment to be offered with five powertrain options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine, an electric powertrain, and a CNG powertrain. This will make the Carens Clavis one of the most versatile MPVs in the segment, catering to customers with different requirements and preferences. In essence, it will offer a powertrain option for almost every type of buyer.
