Hyundai Motor India has launched its all-new SUV, the Bayon, at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned below the Hyundai Creta, it is Rs 90,000 cheaper than the latter in terms of starting price. However, both SUVs share the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and several features. Here is a look at the variant-wise prices, features, dimensions, and other details of the new SUV.
Hyundai Bayon - Design and Dimensions
The Hyundai Bayon is the first car from the brand to be built around its latest 'Art of Steel' design language. It does look like a brand-new car, with a fresh face and proportions that set it apart in the mid-size SUV segment as well as within Hyundai's own lineup. It also looks like a younger sibling of the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson, with the muscular styling that buyers look for in their next SUV.
The front fascia is decorated with inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, dual-LED projector headlamps, and a sturdier-looking bumper with silver skid plates. At the sides, we have cool-looking 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and thick side cladding that adds to its macho factor. The rear profile is sharper, too, with a busy bumper, LED tail-lamps, and a spoiler with an integrated brake light that gives it a sporty look. Lastly, the car is available in a total of 10 colour options, with Fiery Red being the signature colour.
Talking about the dimensions, the Bayon is 85 mm shorter than the Creta and 30 mm shorter in height. However, its boot space is larger by 72 litres.
Length | 4,245 mm |
|---|---|
Width | 1,810 mm |
Height | 1,605 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,600 mm |
Ground Clearance | 205 mm |

The Hyundai Bayon is priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The automatic gearbox option is available from the mid-spec HX5 variant, which starts at Rs 13.85 lakh, while the lower variants are offered only with a manual gearbox.
It is powered by the familiar 1.5-litre MPi engine, which produces 115hp and 144Nm of torque. It is paired with either a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The CVT-equipped Hyundai Bayon has an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.6kmpl. A CNG option will also join the lineup from January 2027.
We were expecting the Bayon to be offered with turbo-petrol and diesel engines as well. However, for now, it gets only a naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Hyundai Bayon Interior Features
The design of the centre console is fresh and unlike anything seen in a Hyundai car currently on sale in India. It features vertically shaped AC vents, dual 12.3-inch screens, with the touchscreen infotainment system tilted towards the driver. The steering wheel is also all-new, similar to the ones we have recently seen in the Hyundai Venue, Ioniq 5, and Verna.
The major talking point is the integration of a generative AI module that works as your AI partner on the go and understands voice commands in 23 languages. You can ask it questions, much like you would ask ChatGPT or Claude, and it will respond.
Other features include a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, ambient lighting, an electronic parking brake, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, USB-C ports at the front and rear, push-button start, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
The Bayon gets three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The rotary knob to select these modes is positioned to the left of the steering wheel.
Saftey Features In The Hyundai Bayon
Coming to safety, the top variants of the Hyundai Bayon get Level 2 ADAS, supported by five radars and 12 sensors. The safety package also includes a front dashcam, a 360-degree parking camera, disc brakes on all four wheels, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, and a TPMS. Overall, the Bayon is well-equipped with safety features. Lastly, the Hyundai Bayon is built on the brand's Global K platform and has been engineered to target a 5-star crash-test rating under Bharat NCAP, with crash testing expected to take place in the coming days.
