Toyota Taisor

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is essentially a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx, featuring a unique design to differentiate it from its counterpart. It retains the same engine options, features, and transmission choices as the Fronx. While it offers an alternative to the mass seller Baleno, it faces tough rivalry from the obvious Baleno, and other compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, and others. Interestingly, Taisor also gets the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine along with the NA 1.2-litre petrol mill. Want an even more fuel-efficient option, you can opt for the bi-fuel petrol+CNG engine as well. While it is an exact twin of the Maruti Baleno underneath, the limited service center network hinders its widespread mass appeal.

Toyota Taisor Latest Update

Last updated on 8th Sept'25: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has released a detailed list of its cars, highlighting the exact price reductions customers can expect. As per the official press release, the Fortuner will become cheaper by Rs 3.50 lakh, while the Innova Hycross will see a price drop from Rs 55,196 to Rs 1.15 lakh. The revised GST rates will come into effect from September 22, 2025.

The Toyota Taisor is the rebadged version of the Maruti Fronx and continues to sell with the same specifications, with no new updates. Two petrol engines are available: a 1.2L 4-cylinder and a 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder. Gearbox options include a 5MT, AMT, and a 6AT. It is also available with a CNG kit mated to the 1.2L engine, which gives it an average of 28.5 km/kg.

It feels a bit underpowered when you're gunning it on highways. The cabin has a lot of hard plastic, which might not feel premium. No crash test ratings as of now.

The newly launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is a good alternative if you don’t want to buy the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It does offer a bit of distinction from the exterior, but the interior only gets the Toyota logo and a different colour theme. The premium price tag over the Fronx is not justified by the Taisor. It will most likely attract those customers who don’t want a Maruti badge on their car but like the Fronx.

It offers a muscular design language with some subtle changes to make it different from Fronx

Available multiple engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine, a 1.2-litre CNG engine, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine

Should I buy the Taisor?

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor does not bring any exclusivity, it is just a rebadged version of the Fronx with some design changes. If you are someone who doesn’t like the colour options and design language of the Fronx, the Taisor will serve as the same alternative with some design changes which might attract you. The interior has a similar layout. One advantage it gets over the Fronx is the 3-year and 1 lakh km warranty which results in a more worry-free ownership experience. On the other hand, if you want more features that offer and more premium experience you can look for the KIA Sonet or Hyundai Venue.

Superior Mileage Comparison
