2020 Toyota Yaris BS6 First Look Review - Most Practical Sedan?

The Toyota Yaris is the entry-level sedan in the Japanese car maker's line-up and is offered as a well built and a safe vehicle which scores high in terms of overall practicality. The car directly competes against the cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, and the Maruti Ciaz. Exterior Looks and Design

The Yaris is a handsome looking cars and gets a modern design language. The sharp front fascia may not be to everyone's tastes but looks fairly impressive. Move to the sides and you will observe that the overall design looks subtle and simple. With this being said, the tyres look a tad too small ad we would have appreciated if the brand provided bigger wheels with the car. The rear of the car, just like the front, looks busy and attractive and in all, the Yaris does score high in terms of overall looks and aesthetic appeal.

Interiors

The interiors of the Yaris are comfortable and premium. The seats at the front and at the rear are comfortable while there is an ample amount of space inside the cabin. The dual-tone colour scheme has further enhanced the overall feel while the quality of the plastics is great too. Furthermore, the fit and finish levels inside the cabin are impressive and in all, the Yaris remains one of the best cars in terms of in-cabin experience.

Engine, Gearbox, and Performance

The Toyota Yaris is powered by a 1.5-L naturally aspirated petrol engine that produced 107 PS and 140 Nm of peak torque output. This engine comes mated to a 6-Speed manual gearbox or a 7-Step CVT gearbox. The overall refinement levels from this engine are great while the fuel economy figures for the manual and automatic variant stand at 17.1 and 17.8 kmpl respectively. With this being said, while the Yaris may not be the most powerful car in the segment, but it surely scores high in the reliability and refinement departments.

Features

In terms of features, the 2020 Toyota Yaris BS6 gets a fairly loaded cabin and get features such as a cooled glovebox, smart entry, push-button start, power windows, cruise control, rear sunshade and driver seat height adjustment in addition to other features such as paddle shifters, rain-sensing automatic wipers, etc. In terms of safety, the car comes with 7 airbags, hill start assist control, ABS, EBD, BA, TPMS, and a number of other features such as rear defogger, high-speed alert, vehicle stability control, etc.

Price

The Toyota Yaris competes against cars such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, and Maruti Ciaz. The car is priced from Rs 8.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model.
