2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Turbo Review: Pros & Cons Explained

Maruti Suzuki has now entered the list of sub-4-metre SUVs that offer a turbo petrol engine with the launch of the 2026 Brezza. The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza comes with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, starting at Rs 7.40 lakh to Rs 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Brezza has now become a more worthy rival in the segment with the launch of this new engine and the addition of some new features. I’ve driven the new Brezza Turbo in Mumbai, and with the manual transmission, I feel Mumbai was the best place to test the car. In this piece, I’ll talk about the pros and cons of the 2026 Maruti Brezza Facelift.

What I Like?

Peppy & Torquey 1.0-litre Engine

Let’s start with the heart of the update, the engine. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is the same one used in the Fronx, but the brand has retuned it to deliver more power and torque. In the Brezza, it produces 110 PS of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, it delivers linear performance, and you don’t need to struggle with the gearbox at lower speeds. Shifts are super smooth, and the low-end torque keeps you stress-free in bumper-to-bumper traffic. You can reach peak torque at 3,000 RPM, and the 6th gear improves efficiency. The gearbox is tuned so you can easily put it in 3rd gear at 20 kmph, 4th at 30-35 kmph, and 6th at 60 kmph. The car won’t struggle at all, and you won’t feel any turbo lag. This engine will keep you happy by offering city-friendly torque and highway-friendly drivability and maneuverability.

Better User Interface for the Infotainment

Another big change in the new Brezza is the addition of a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. This screen is borrowed from the Victoris and features the same user interface. The new interface is more user-friendly, and it does not look cluttered. Apart from the new UI, this screen now offers inbuilt navigation, Alexa support, 64-colour ambient lighting control, and 60+ connected features. The new 10.1-inch screen continues to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with extensive new application support.

5-Star BNCAP Safety Rating, Enhanced Safety Features

The new Brezza comes with enhanced safety features to offer a more comprehensive package to the customers. For the year 2026, the brand has added front parking sensors, blind spot warning with lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, TPMS, and safe exit warning. The Brezza continues to offer features like the 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ESC, and ABS with EBD, among other safety features. The front parking sensor was necessary with the 360-degree camera, and it is a welcome addition to the new model. Moreover, the new Brezza has scored a perfect 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test for both adult and child safety.

6-Speed Gearbox for All Powertrains

Maruti has not only added a new powertrain to the lineup, but it has updated the existing ones as well. The Brezza was previously available with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.5-litre CNG engine. Both these engines were paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Now, with the new update, the NA and the CNG engine both come with a 6-speed manual transmission to offer better efficiency and high-end performance. Along with this, the brand has also improved the compression ratios of the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine to offer better performance. The CNG version now comes with an underbody CNG kit, resulting in full utilisation of the boot space for luggage. 

Variant Segregation & Pricing

Maruti Suzuki knows how to tempt customers and stir the segment, and with the new Brezza, the brand has done the same. Starting from the base LXI variant, customers can choose the turbo petrol engine at a starting price of Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom). All variants, from the base to the top, are available with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The NA petrol engine is available in three main variants, namely LXI, VXI, and ZXI, with a manual transmission, and in the ZXI+ with an AT gearbox. The CNG, on the other hand, is available only in the LXI, VXI, and ZXI variants. So, customers can choose any engine option starting from the base variant.

What I Didn’t Like?

Still Looks Similar to the Pre-Facelift Model

The first major facelift of the Brezza was launched back in 2022. Now, in 2026, it has received yet another update. But on the exterior front, the brand could have made it look different from its previous model. At first glance, the new model and the old one look similar, and that is a bummer if you are buying the new model. The only changes on the outside are the front and rear bumpers, a new fog lamp assembly, subtle changes to the grille, and new alloy wheels—that’s all. If we look at the rivals, they look more appealing and more modern in terms of design, and Maruti could have done something different with the design as well. 

No Automatic in Turbo Petrol

The new turbo petrol engine is a welcome addition to the lineup, but Maruti is not offering this engine with an automatic transmission. The same engine, with a different tune, is available with an AT gearbox in the Fronx, and that could have been a great option for the Brezza as well. But I don’t know why Maruti decided to offer the turbo petrol only with a manual transmission. An automatic transmission option would have made it more suitable for those who want a turbo engine but don’t want the hassle of manual gear shifts.

Missing Features

The new Brezza has received a few changes on the inside in terms of features, but when we compare it with its rivals, it still misses out on a lot of features. Rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Kia Sonet come with ADAS features. While the Sonet offers Level 1 ADAS and the Venue offers Level 2 ADAS, the Brezza still misses out on any ADAS feature. Moreover, there are a few things that the SUV misses, such as a Type-C charging port for the front row, electric seat adjustment for the front seats, rear window sunblinds, among a few more features.
