The Himalayan 450 continues to focus on long-distance touring with a modern touch. It comes equipped with a 4-inch color TFT display, multiple riding modes (Eco and Performance, with switchable ABS), ride-by-wire throttle, hazard lights, adjustable seats, and Type-C charging. While it lacks knuckle guards and tubeless spoke wheels at launch, its design remains rugged and purposeful, with a 21-inch front wheel and a long beak giving it a commanding presence.

In contrast, the Versys-X 300 offers a simpler package. Its analog-digital cluster is functional but basic, with no ride modes, traction control or switchable ABS. Fit and finish are solid, and it comes with a tall, comfortable seat and standard luggage mounting points. While some accessories like handguards and luggage racks are available, they are optional and add to the cost.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, the Himalayan 450 has a 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 40bhp and 40Nm of torque. The engine is smooth, refined, and capable on highways, with comfortable touring speeds around 120kmph. It also handles off-road terrain confidently thanks to 230mm of ground clearance and long-travel suspension. Off-road capability is limited due to lower ground clearance (180mm front, 148mm rear) and softer suspension, but it handles smooth roads and corners with agility.

With the new GST 2.0 rates, the Himalayan 450 has seen a slight increase, and the lineup ranges from 3.05-3.19 lakh (ex-sh) now. Its feature-rich setup, off-road prowess, and touring capability justify the price for serious adventure riders.

The Versys-X 300, on the other hand, has become more affordable, dropping to Rs. 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom) after a Rs. 30,000 reduction. While it lacks advanced features and off-road credentials, it offers a smoother twin-cylinder engine and lighter handling, making it an appealing choice for riders seeking a road-focused, Japanese-engineered ADV bike.
