Yezdi Adventure Expert Verdict
Yezdi Adventure Detailed Review
This bike was made as a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Not surprising, it ends up looking like it also. The 21 inch front tyre looks great and gives the bike a ‘tall’ stance. The lifted second mud-guard, rubber tubes for the forks and a little screen make the front design look great. The side profile is dominated by the longish tank that is surrounded by a metal casing. This looks purposeful! The exhaust is upswept in a sportier manner and you get a dual seat set-up here. The Yezdi Adventure also comes with a full digital instrumentation cluster. The rear of the bike houses a little round tail light which frankly does not end up gelling well with the rest of the design theme. That said, the 130mm wide rear tyre is wider than that of the Enfield and adds meat to this angle of the bike. The bike has generous dimensions and does look big for a 334cc motorcycle. At launch, the bike was available in three colours of black, silver and Camo. However, the Camo is now discontinued.
Summary
Great looking adventure bike with the right proportions.
The bike is powered by the same engine that is seen on the Jawa Perak. However, it is set in a different state of tune. On paper, the 334cc engine makes 30.2 bhp of power and 29.9 Nm of torque. These are healthy numbers for an engine of this size. The motor is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and though the gearshifts are smooth, the clutch action is on the harder side. Outright performance is excellent and the Adventure is quicker and faster than its main rival, the Himalayan. The bike also fares decently well in urban riding conditions, usually having enough torque to pull at lower revs. Yezdi offers an easy way for owners to remove the DB killer (without effecting emissions) and this does make the bike more vocal. For long distance riding, the Adventure holds 90-100 km/h easily. Vibrations are also well controlled till about 90km/h. The issue is with the engine heating up a lot in start-stop traffic. Though it is liquid cooled, a lot of heat does come on to the rider’s thighs.
Summary
Great on power and torque. Vibrations are well controlled too.
Spend five minutes with this bike and you will be surprised on how well Yezdi has engineered it. The Yezdi Adventure takes on both urban roads and unexplored trails in a great manner, always keeping the rider confident. The only flaw here is the hard seat that requires you to take a break sooner than expected. The riding posture (ergonomics) are very comfortable though the seat height is definitely on the higher side. The suspension has as much as 180mm of travel up front and 200mm at the back. This does take care of undulations very easily. The Adventure further shines off the road. Dirt roads, rocky terrain, trails and even tough sections, the bike’s peppy motor and long travel suspension come handy. You can even stand on the footpegs for further control. This is a great bike for touring with a pinion as well. In terms of handling, it takes time getting used to the slightly soft suspension but once you do, you can flick this thing around corners and curves with much confidence.
Summary
Great dynamics, both on and off the road.
At Rs 2.1 lakh (ex-showroom), this continues to be a value for money offering. The bike comes in only one version and this is sufficiently loaded. Features include charging outlet with both USB and C type outlets, digital console, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS modes, front and rear disc brakes etc. The console also has the display for navigation which can activated via the phone application. The bike also gets liquid cooling as standard. The company is offering ample after market accessories that riders can invest into
Summary
Sufficiently loaded for the price and segment.
