Exterior Design

The ZR-V makes an immediate statement: this is not a car Honda India has offered before. At 4,567 mm in length, it occupies serious ground in the premium SUV segment, and its proportions are well-resolved for its size.
The front fascia draws from a restrained, European design language -smooth surfaces, no aggressive creases, and a wide grille framed by sleek LED headlamps. The overall composition has an elegance reminiscent of Italian-influenced design, prioritising form over drama. Honda branding sits prominently above the grille, while the lower bumper incorporates decorative air intake surrounds that add visual structure without overstatement.

The side profile continues this theme of understated sophistication. A slim chrome window surround is the only embellishment - discreet on first glance, refined on closer inspection. The 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on 225/55 Yokohama tyres are appropriately sized and well-proportioned against the body.
The rear is the ZR-V's most distinctive angle, and arguably its strongest. The tailgate's flowing roofline bears a resemblance to the Porsche Macan - a comparison that works in its favour. A full-width LED light strip in red anchors the upper section, while a satin-finish skid plate with integrated twin exhaust surrounds completes the lower bumper. Notably, the entire exterior is finished in body colour with no exposed plastic cladding - a detail that meaningfully elevates perceived quality over many rivals in this price bracket.

The ZR-V is offered in four exterior colours: Crystal Black Pearl, Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.
Interior & Features
Step inside, and the ZR-V delivers a cabin that prioritises tactile quality. Premium leather upholstery, a fully black interior theme, and soft-touch materials across all primary contact surfaces create a sense of genuine premium intent. Seating comfort is a highlight - the front seats in particular offer strong support and bolstering.

Storage space is practical and well thought-out, consistent with Honda's man-maximum, machine-minimum philosophy. Cabin width and headroom are generous.
However, there are areas where the ZR-V falls short of what buyers at this price point will expect. The dashboard design is relatively flat and conservative - there is no dramatic layering or architectural element that commands attention. The infotainment system is a 9-inch unit, which is acceptable in function but underwhelming in size for a car expected to be priced between Rs 40 - 45 lakh. The absence of a panoramic sunroof is a notable omission in a segment where it has become a key purchase driver.
The gear selector has been replaced with push-button controls - a modern layout choice, though one that some buyers will need time to adapt to.

The features list includes: a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging, powered tailgate, hill descent control, three drive modes, and more. These are solid inclusions, but given the expected price point, the overall package feels cautious rather than comprehensive.
Powertrain

The ZR-V is powered by Honda's e:HEV full hybrid system, claiming a fuel efficiency of 22.8 km/l. In a market increasingly sensitive to running costs, this figure is a genuine competitive advantage - and potentially the ZR-V's strongest selling point beyond its design.
The powertrain is a 2.0L hybrid engine that produces a combined 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque, paired with an e-CVT gearbox. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, which translates into genuinely quick performance. We'll share a detailed drive review once we get behind the wheel of the car.
Verdict
The Honda ZR-V is the most premium and design-forward product Honda India has launched in recent memory. Its exterior quality, hybrid efficiency, and cabin refinement give it a credible foundation in the premium SUV segment.
That said, it enters a fiercely competitive space where buyers evaluate specification sheets as much as overall character. The conservative infotainment size, absent panoramic sunroof, and a feature set that does not quite match the expected price will invite scrutiny.
Honda has built a car that feels genuinely upmarket - the task now is ensuring the full package justifies what it asks buyers to pay.
