43 Inch Wide Cinemascope

Mahindra XEV 9e Interior

If two giant HD screens are not enough for you, then the Mahindra XEV 9e has three screens to offer. The three-screen setup has been given a special moniker, "Cinemascope," as in real life, this long slate of screens appears like a beautiful frame from a movie. The game changer here is the infotainment screen for the passenger.

Mahindra wants the front passenger to use this screen to watch movies, play YouTube, play games, attend meetings via Zoom call, take selfies, and check all the information related to the EV.

Lastly, Mahindra has introduced a new system for rear passengers, called BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), where customers can attach their devices, like an iPad, to the back seat and connect it to the main infotainment screen. That's how all the information and controls present at the front will sync with your own private device.

Variant Available: This triple-screen setup is available in all the variants of the XEV 9e.

Competitors With Same Feature:

  • BYD Atto 3 - This Chinese SUV is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen, which is available in all three variants.
  • Tata Harrier EV - Harrier EV has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen from the base trim, and as you go up, it gets a 14.52-inch screen powered by Samsung Neo QLED.

Head Up Display with Augmented Reality - VisionX

This feature is available in high-end luxury cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. Now, Mahindra also offers it. It's the first car in its segment and with this price bracket to feature a head-up display with augmented reality. This means that you'll not only get necessary information like speed, which gear you're in, or multimedia, but also navigation directions with arrows, providing you with all the GPS-related information right in front of your eyes. This is a game-changing feature, and once you get used to it, you'll miss it every time you drive any other vehicle.

Variants Available:

This feature is only available in the top spec Pack Three variant.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

  • Neither BYD nor Tata have anything like a head-up display with augmented reality; only Mahindra offers it.

Infinity Roof With 16 Million Hues

Mahindra XEV 9e

For electric-origin vehicles, Mahindra has ditched the panoramic glass roof option but has introduced the Infinity Roof, which lights up at night as it is powered by 16 million hues. The lights create a show that becomes a sight to behold for passengers. This is a great feature, and much better than the panoramic glass. Ultimately, its aim is to provide an unforgettable and rich experience in the XEV 9e, something you won't find in any other vehicle.

Variants Available:

This feature starts from the Pack Two, and its ex-showroom cost is Rs 24.90 lakh.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

Both the BYD Atto 3 and Tata Harrier EV have a panoramic sunroof that opens up to bring in natural light.

16 Speakers of Harman Kardon with Dolby Atmos

There are 16 speakers, 1400 W, and 14 amplifiers inside the Mahindra XEV 9e. The big news is that Dolby Atmos is also integrated, providing an immersive sound experience that turns your car into an amphitheater. So, what is the effect of Dolby Atmos here? Usually, in cars, sound comes from either the left or right speakers, and you can feel the music more when you are close to the speakers. But here, Mahindra says the sound comes from everywhere - middle, top right, bottom left - ultimately elevating your musical journey. Again, a segment-first feature.

Variants Available:

This feature too starts from the Pack Two, and it is priced at Rs 24.90 lakh, before taxes.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

  • BYD Atto 3 - In the first two trims, Atto 3 has 6 speakers, and in the top spec variant, it gets a "Dirac HD Sound" with 8 speakers.
  • Tata Harrier EV - In the base variant, the Harrier EV is equipped with 4 standard speakers and 2 tweeters. The second variant comes with a JBL 10-speaker system, while the second-top variant, Empowered 75, features Dolby Atmos.

EyeDentity

Mahindra XEV 9e

In the center-top area, where the switches for the sunroof and lights are located, Mahindra has installed a camera that monitors the driver. To be specific, it tracks the driver's eyes and detects whether everything is fine or not. If the driver feels sleepy, EyeDentity will detect it and send signals to the screen ahead within seconds, before anything unfortunate happens. This is great for the safety of the driver as well as the people on the road.

Variants Available:

This feature is available in just two trims: Pack Three Select and the range-topping Pack Three.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

  • BYD Atto 3 - No, the Atto 3 doesn't get any feature like this, though it offers several ADAS features.
  • Tata Harrier EV - Harrier EV too doesn't have an eye-identity-like feature, but it comes with Level 2 ADAS and 22 autonomous features.

AutoPark

Mahindra XEV 9e

The exterior of the XEV 9e is equipped with four cameras placed at different angles. These cameras are capable of sending clear images of the car and its surroundings to the ECU, allowing the vehicle to park automatically with just one touch. Surprisingly, you can activate AutoPark both from inside and outside the vehicle. Lastly, there are around 200 use cases for this feature, making it an integral and key component of the car.

Variants Available:

Available from Pack Three Select onwards.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

BYD Atto 3 lacks this feature, but the Tata Harrier EV has it, starting from the second-top Empowered 75 variant. Moreover, its Auto Park Assist offers a total of 15 features. So, the Harrier EV is ahead in this regard.

Pawpal

Mahindra XEV 9e

This might confuse you, as the name suggests something related to animals. Yes, it is connected to your pets. Mahindra is thinking miles ahead of its competitors, and this is proof of that. If you're traveling with your pet and need to run errands but can't take your pet everywhere, by turning on the Pawpal mode, the AC will stay on, the car doors will remain locked, and the main infotainment screen will display a message like, "Just Paw-ing here, my family will be back soon." This feature is directly inspired by the flag bearer of EVs internationally.

Variants Available:

From Pack Three Select onwards.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

Neither BYD nor Tata electric car have any such feature like that.

One Pedal Mode

The One Pedal mode allows you to take your foot off both the accelerator and brake pedals. The car, using its five radars and several cameras, takes full control. For example, after activating it, the car will sense road patterns, detect red lights, stop when necessary, sense speed, and much more. Basically, it's a step ahead of ADAS Level 2.

Variants Available:

From Pack Three Select onwards.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

Both the Atto 3 and Harrier EV lack this feature.

Digital Key

The NFC card, which serves as the digital key for this vehicle, is an optional feature that performs all the functions of the car's original key. If you don't have the key, simply take the NFC card, place it next to the flush door handles, and the car will unlock. Then, the procedure is the same as with your regular keys. You can also perform the same actions using your smartphone.

Variants Available:

This feature starts from Pack Two of XEV 9e.

Competitors With Same Feautre:

Both rivals feature this advanced key to enter the car, and it is one of the most common advanced features among these three cars.

Features Missing in Mahindra XEV 9e

No AWD - Mahindra XEV 9e is a behemoth SUV with massive power and great ground clearance. Still, it's available with just a RWD setup, which is great in terms of overall handling and dynamics. But if someone wants to take it off-road, they have to set a limit, as a RWD doesn't really provide full confidence and allows the car a limited gateway.

540 degree view - Tata Harrier EV has broken the internet with its features, and one of them is the 540-degree view, which combines the 360-degree view with what's underneath the car. So, the driver now has a complete view around the car and can take on any challenge, if it's attainable. This feature is not available in the XEV 9e.

Digital Rear View Mirror - The IRVM in the Tata Harrier EV comes in two settings - one digital and the other regular. This provides a crystal-clear view of what's behind, and it also records, serving as a rearview camera for safety. Again, this is not available in the XEV 9e.

Verdict

Mahindra takes its time but always presents the best, which is unlike any other. Just take a look at their SUV ICE lineup, which is ruling the segment, and now it's time for the electric SUVs.
