Competitor With Same Features:

Although the Kia Carens Clavis EV doesn't have any direct rival, we'll put it against the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV, just because it falls in the same price category.

  • Hyundai Creta Electric - This car too offers infotainment and digital MID in one single screen to all its variants. However, here both screens are of 10.25-inch size.
  • Tata Curvv EV - In this coupe SUV, the base variant gets a 7-inch infotainment by HARMAN and a 7-inch MID. But as you climb the variant list, Tata offers a 12.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.24-inch MID.

Front Ventilated Seats

One of the most popular features of current times, front ventilated seats have a tremendous effect on the overall comfort in the car, as people sat in the front get cooled air from all angles which elevates the driving experience. This car also has great front seats which can easily accommodate even large-size people.

Variants Available:

This features is only available in the top spec HTK+ER variant which cost Rs 24.49 lakh ex-showroom.

Competitors With The Same Feature:

  • Hyundai Creta Electric - Front ventilated seats are only available with the top-spec Excellence LR variant, and it costs Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Tata Curvv EV - Tata Curvv EV Empowered + 55 variant, which is the 2nd to top variant features front seat ventilation, and it costs Rs 21.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof

In current times, if the car doesn't feature a large panoramic sunroof, the purchase feels incomplete, as it has become so common. And yes, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is equipped with it, which brings tons of natural light and makes the already spacious interior even more lively. Kids love it, and in pleasant weather, this just makes every drive memorable.

Variants Available:

This feature is available from the second variant - HTX - and after that is also present in the other two. The HTX costs Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competitors With The Same Feature:

  • Hyundai Creta Electric - Voice enabled smart panoramic sunroof starts from the Smart (O) trim, which costs Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Tata Curvv EV - From Accomplished + S 45 and 55, this feature is introduced, and it starts at Rs 19.29 lakh for the 45 kWh and Rs 19.99 lakh for the 55 kWh battery pack.

Level 2 ADAS

Kia Carens Clavis EV

This electric MPV is high on safety, as it is equipped with ADAS Level 2 with 20 autonomous features and 18 robust standard safety features. This suite includes Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop and go, Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist (FCW & FCA), 6 airbags as standard, Lane Keeping Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, to name a few.

Variants Available:

Level 2 ADAS begins from HTX variant which cost Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competitors With The Same Feature:

  • Hyundai Creta Electric - Here, Level 2 ADAS is there but with 19 features, and it's there in the car from the Premium variant with 42 kWh, which costs Rs 20 lakh before taxes. After this trim, it's present in the second Excellence variant with a larger 51.4 kWh pack. To add more, the Excellence is the trim which offers all the 19 features, while the Premium loses out on Surround View Monitor and Blind Spot Monitor.
  • Tata Curvv EV - Tata Curvv EV also offers Level 2 ADAS with 20 autonomous features, but to buy them, customers need to pay Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), as these are part only of the top Empowered + A 55.

V2L

Kia Carens Clavis EV

Kia wants customers to fully utilize the battery pack and has equipped it with a V2L setting, where the Carens Clavis EV can become a charger for other devices. This feature really comes in handy while camping or travelling, as the Carens EV will allow you to use your induction stove in the open, giving you the full freedom to be in nature. To add more, the V2L can be used in both ways - externally and internally - so passengers can charge their laptops and other devices at a faster speed.

Variants Available:

This special feature is only there in the top trim - HTX + ER, which costs Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competitors With The Same Feature:

  • Hyundai Creta Electric - This car also offers V2L for both internal and external use, and the good part is that it starts from the Premium variant and continues all the way to the top.
  • Tata Curvv EV - Tata has done a great job with Curvv EV, as it offers V2L and V2V on all its variants. So, the V2V allows you to charge any other electric vehicle. This feature makes the electric vehicle extremely versatile.

Features Missing in the Kia Carens Clavis EV

  • Captain Seats - Its ICE counterpart comes with rear captain seats, and the level of comfort they provide can't be matched by full-size seats, even with top-tier cushioning and under-thigh support. Had Kia included this feature, the luxury factor of this premium EV would have been taken to a whole new level.
  • No Wireless Connectivity - Despite offering a 12.25-inch infotainment screen with top-quality visuals and a premium UI, the long-standing issue with Kia/Hyundai cars persists here as well. There's still no wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, only wired connections. This means that even with a wireless charging pad, you'll still need to carry a Type-C cable.
  • Dual Zone Climate Control - The top variant, HTX+ ER, priced at Rs 24.49 lakh ex-showroom, misses out on dual-zone climate control - a feature available in several midsize SUVs costing around Rs 15 lakh. This feature lets passengers set the temperature according to their own preferences.

Verdict

The Carens Clavis is a smartly packaged electric MPV which offers tremendous value in terms of range and features, and to make the variant portfolio simple, only 4 variants are on offer. As we know, currently there is no direct competition for this car, as there is no other electric MPV under Rs 20 lakh. However, at Rs 26 lakh, you can get a BYD eMax 7, which is also a 7-seater, but there is a huge price difference. To add more, this vehicle is a solid option for people looking to buy a reliable, spacious MPV that also saves a lot of money.
