Nissan Magnite

In this latest Global NCAP crash test, the Magnite was rated five stars for adult occupant and three stars for child occupant protection. This new result is a dramatic improvement in safety from the previous model (equipped with 2 airbags as standard) which had been rated two stars for both adult and child protection, demonstrating what can be done and critically how quickly it can be achieved when vehicle safety is prioritised.

This sub-4 meter SUV has now joined the club of the safest small SUVs, which includes the Skoda Kylaq, Tata Nexon, Kia Syros, and Mahindra XUV 3X0. Launched in 2024, it starts at Rs 6.14 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.76 lakh (ex-showroom). There are three powertrain options - a 1.0L NA petrol, a 1.0L turbo petrol, and a CNG variant, which is installed by the Nissan dealership itself. Moreover, there is a 5-speed manual, AMT, and CVT gearbox on offer.
Richard Woods, Chief Executive Officer, Global NCAP, said:
"It's very welcome to see Nissan's focus on improving the Magnite's safety performance. The five star rating is relevant to consumers in South Africa and India and it demonstrates what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time when a manufacturer is fully committed to engage in the NCAP process."
Verdict
This is great news for Nissan company, as Magnite, which is an excellent small SUV, now is also a certified safe car. It will boost the confidence in potential customers and even those who have bought this facelifted version. It's easy to drive, spacious, and can accommodate three people in its back seat. Let's hope this rating will have a positive impact on the sales of this vehicle.
