If there is one SUV that instilled the love for SUVs amongst enthusiasts has to be the Mahindra Scorpio. This, along with the Tata Safari managed to carve out a loyal fanbase from the price and fuel economy-sensitive market at those times. Talking about the Scorpio Classic, after the launch of Scorpio N, it has managed to keep the true blue SUV fans coming back to it for the status and power symbol that it exudes, and when it rolls, the road ahead is often cleared for its easy pass. In this section, we will take a look at things other than its robust and no-nonsense looks. We explain the key features that it offers that make living inside the cabin (not literally) a breeze. 1. 22.86cm Infotainment Touchscreen

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic comes with a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen for all the multimedia consumption for the occupants. While it displays the music and other information, the climate control knobs are placed just below it with a digital screen to manage the temperature.
Variants Available:
Only available in the top end S11 variant.
Competitors Check:
The Mahindra Bolero, a ladder-on-frame SUV, is not equipped with a multimedia touchscreen. In contrast, its premium version, the Bolero Neo, offers a 22.8 cm music player with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, but only in the top-spec N10 and N10 (O) variants.
2. Bluetooth And Smartphone Mirroring

Going a step further, the multimedia experience is enriched by the availability of Bluetooth connectivity, USB & AUX connectivity as well as smartphone mirroring.
Variants Available:
Only available in the top end S11 variant.
Competitors Check:
As mentioned earlier, only the Bolero Neo comes with a multimedia screen, which includes connectivity features like Bluetooth, AUX, and USB. These features are not available on the standard Bolero.
3. Rear AC Vents

The 3-row SUV, with a big cabin like the Scorpio Classic, needs proper AC vents in order to make the rear occupants feel at ease. This is taken care of by the introduction of rear AC vents that make sure that the second-row occupants never feel the heat or cold while traveling.
Variants Available:
Standard on both variants.
Competitors Check:
The Bolero doesn't feature rear AC vents, which is a significant miss considering it's a 7-seater SUV. Interestingly, even the Bolero Neo, being a more premium version, also lacks this feature.
4. Dual Front Airbags

While this is something that is standard across both variants, we feel that this could have been upgraded to incorporate a 6-airbag setup. While some cars in the lower price bracket offer this essential safety feature, its omission from the top-spec S11 trim does feel like a major miss. Interestingly, the top trim of the Scorpio N comes with a 6-airbag setup.
Variants Available:
Standard on both variants.
Competitors Check:
Both of its rivals come equipped with 2 airbags as standard across all variants.
5. Hydraulic Power Steering

While new cars and SUVs are now using electronic power steering, the Scorpio Classic, staying true to its name, comes with a hydraulic power steering that makes you feel the kind of SUV that you are driving. While some may say that it feels a bit heavier than the electronic unit, others prefer this very trait for that authentic SUV experience.
Variants Available:
Standard on both variants.
Competitors Check:
Both rivals are equipped with a hydraulic power steering system.

6. Hydraulic Assist Bonnet

The Scorpio Classic comes with a feature that is still missing on the more expensive SUVs the hydraulic assist bonnet. As soon as you open the bonnet, it goes up with the help of hydraulics and stays in its place taking away the hassle of pushing the heavy bonnet and is a very thoughtful addition.
Variants Available:
Standard on both variants.
Competitors Check:
The hydraulic-assisted bonnet is available on the Mahindra Bolero Neo, but not on the regular Bolero.
7. Micro Hybrid System
The Scorpio Classic comes with Micro Hybrid technology that automatically shuts off the engine when it comes to a halt and starts off when the driver is ready to go. This simple yet effective system helps the SUV to improve fuel efficiency, something that is very dear to a lot of buyers.
Variants Available:
Standard on both variants.
Competitors Check:
This technological feature is present in both the Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo.
Features Missing In Mahindra Scorpio Classic
- 6 Airbags - In today's time, even cars like the Maruti Eeco and Alto K10 come with 6 airbags as standard. Therefore, it's high time the Scorpio Classic also offers the same, especially considering this SUV's price range, starting at Rs 13.76 lakh and going up to Rs 17.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Push Start Button -This modern feature, which is now becoming commonplace, should be offered here simply because of its high price. While it may not significantly improve the vehicle, it would add a touch of premium appeal.
- Wireless Connectivity - This 9-inch screen offers very limited functionality, with only Bluetooth and AUX, features people have moved on from, as they've been replaced by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. If not wireless, Mahindra should at least provide wired connectivity.

Verdict
The Scorpio Classic, unlike its cousin, the Scorpio N, isn't a lavish SUV when it comes to features on board. However, it neatly curates a practical list that is not all overdone, andf doesn't feel short of utility as well. However, it's main highlight is its road presence, in which, it rivals some of the higher and bigger SUVs with a stiff competition.
