According to a new source of information, driving/riding without PUC will now land you in RC seizure of your vehicle. Yes, in order to update the new traffic rules and remove the unfit vehicles from the roads, this step will be regulated from 2021.

This report came after the Ministry Of Road Transport and Highway is wanting to take the PUC system online and has drafted the same on November 27. They are currently taking suggestions from other stakeholders and this entire process will take up to 2 months to come into immediate effect.

To make the process easier and not painful to the people of India, if you are caught riding/driving without PUC then you will be given a 7 days notice to produce the document and if you fail to put up to the request then the RC of your vehicle will be confiscated.
Also, if your vehicle is found emitting extra fumes on the road then the authorities will have the right to stop your vehicle and can ask you to get your vehicle checked/repaired. Like above, 7 days period will be given to the owner.
This particular measure is valid for commercial vehicles too. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway has taken this step to ensure curbing the pollution from major cities like Delhi and Gurgaon. Also, it will exit the vehicles which are not safe for the environment all across India.

The PUC centres will be handing out the certificates only when the users provide the One Time Passwords which they will receive on their mobile phones. This will help in reducing any foul play and registering the correct result on the online portal.
